17secs faster than Küng at the intermediate.
Shut. The. Gate.

MvdP keeps yellow. Damn.
Pog will take some beating now for the GC.
(I did say the same about Primoz last year…)
I have just read another article that indicates the maximum fine is 15000 euros. Someones having typing errors or a factor of 10 coming in.
Looking at the code penale it seems that 15000 euros is correct.
They have dropped the ‘lawsuit’ against her…I guess that means they have instructed the police to withdraw their complaint.
I’m not surprised, there’s been much worst on the tour (like nails been scattered on down hill sections and riders being punched, pets running amok amongst the peloton whilst the owner gets furious that the riders hurtle into the animal). This was just a stupid accident created by a stupid spectator.
She’ll get a ‘rappel a l’ordre’ by a judge sometime in the next 4 months.
Btw she was held for 24hrs (so should just have got out in the last hour or so. She presented herself to the Gendarmerie after taking medical advice. The Gendarmarie searched her house. That’s enough for stupidity as long as she doesn’t do it again I reckon.
So pretty usual reaction by the tour who are under a lot of pressure due to the number of falls already this year.
Lots of elbows out today even with earlier sprint points. Cavendish’s win puts him only 2 wins behind the record.
Cav again.
Did it fucking easy…
I love the Cav
The crash she caused was ridiculous. I reckon there’s a good chance she’s got mental health issues, which might explain the Tour not pursuing legal proceedings.
I’m not so sure. Have TdF pursued others in the past?
She was a local women who seemed oblivious of how to behave. Having been in that situation I can understand, it was ‘frightening’ how fast the peloton shot past. When I had the opportunity I saw other people (locals) start crossing the road when the peloton was in sight and all I could do was hold my breath as the speed at which the peloton arrives is deceptive (a number had to stop in their tracks and run back to where they came from).
I think it’s one of those things which is just going to happen one day and the TdF prefer that it doesn’t become a psychose. It’s crazy what’s being said.
TdF and commentators do what they can informing of the dangers but it’s will never be enough.
This incident was on a country road, when I went to see the TdF I went to the entry of the town near a round about so there were ‘security’ people there and team representatives yet they couldn’t do anything to prevent the ‘oblivious’ behaviour of people.
EDIT: I reckon it’s much better watching on the tv.
Put on the telly if you can…
That is the weirdest breakaway you’ll ever see…
Van Aert, Teunissen, Van Baarle, Nibali, Skujins, Stuyven, Asgreen, Cavendish, Erviti, Cortina, Konrad, Laporte, Meurisse, Van der Poel, Cort, Guerreiro, Schar, Godon, Kragh Andersen, Gilbert, Sweeny, Van Moer, Mohoric, Yates, Houle, Campenaerts, Bakelants, Van Poppel, Bonnamour.
I missed the race! I can only catch up with the highlights.
Primož Roglič pretty much got chewed up and spit out. His really bad fall a few days ago caught up.
yeah SBYM was watching. To have the maillot jaune 7mins ahead of the rest with ~50km to go was extraordinary, all the more so on a non mountain stage.
VdP sprinting for fourth at the end after being unable to pull with GvA… wow.
Tomorrow and Sunday could be exciting! Will Pog blow everyone away or will it be more cagey?
Carapace made an error imo. Never do that with a downhill to the finish they will almost certainly catch you up and you end up burning precious energy that you will need tomorrow.
Otherwise a good stage leading into hills. Yellow jersey did well.
As for tomorow ‘Eye on na’ is not a nice town but the countryside around is wonderful.
Tomorrow should be cagey Sunday could see an effort from one of the ‘favorites’ at least there will be some testing who and when depends on how they are feeling. My guess.
Fecking bonkers, weren’t it?!?!?!
I thought I was seeing things…yellow and green in the break, 6mins ahead of the guy in white who is the out and out favourite.
Loved it.
I’ve been watching the Tour de France, the last couple of days and enjoying it. I’m still trying to understand a lot of stuff, but the commentators are really knowledgeable. I just can’t justify sitting in front of the TV for about 5 hours every afternoon. Hang on a minute! Yes I can!!
I’ve only just taken an interest, noticed that the Vauclusienne stage goes up the ventoux twice, that could get a bit muddled.
Saint Paul les Trois chateau to Nimes will be a bugger if the suns shining.
Yep, any climbing is going to be very uncomfortable. Still all concidering I wouldn’t say he got chewed up (still only 10 minutes off the pace (carapace and Thomas are 5 minutes off) though sure he’s not going to make time whilst Carapace and Thomas could.
Roglic is done this tour I reckon. His role will now be to get healthy and support van Aert.
I’m slightly pissed that the route organisers (and a certain lady in a yellow jacket) have basically trashed this years GC race but the Tour being what it is, something will happen yet. Thankfully there already appears to be lots of sub plots developing.
Pogacar is clearly the best placed of the GC favourites but it’s pretty clear from yesterdays stage he doesn’t have the team around him to defend a yellow jersey from 2-3 teams for 2 weeks and all the mountain stages. Niballi (how?? AGAIN, like dog sh** on your shoe!!) is there, there abouts and van Aert obviously will be be Jumbo’s key player for the moment. Basically Pogocar will have to sneak onto another team and use their strength as his melts around him. That will allow at least one of the GC contenders to get closer to him in the classification.
Ineos will be fascinating to watch again. I honestly feel for Thomas where yet another crash has seriously dented his GC hopes. I suspect they will all support Carapaz for now and see how things develop. Carapaz had a good stage yesterday. While he didn’t make any in roads into van der Poel or Pogacar he did basically take Roglic out of the race by forcing Movistar to chase him down and that broke Roglic. iI was slightly surprised he didn’t manage to stay away as he is a very good descender, he had timed the attack perfectly. He clearly looks in good shape.
What to say about Cavendish. Absolutely made up for him. The romance of the Tour for all to see. To me he clearly looks like the strongest sprinter at the moment. Can he maintain that through the mountain stages?
I’m also keeping a quiet eye on Froome, for exactly the same reasons as Cavendish. I love a great comeback story. While I don’t expect anything from him, that’s not his job this Tour, I will be interested to see how he goes on the mountain stages, particularly later on. Can he hold on long enough to support Woods. I still think he’s way off and am surprised he was actually selected for the team but maybe there’s something in his training numbers that drove that. Doubt it though, slightly bizarre decision I think. The Tour is not the race to build strength, not the full 3 weeks anyway.
