The Film Thread

Will watch it this week GR and pass my critique afterwards :0) :+1:
Thought MJB was an unusual concept, but thought provoking at the same time

Fascinating thread on one of my all time fave films…the background to the making of it is just as barmy as the film itself.

Eva Green. Nothing more to discuss surely?

Well considering the other has an Australian bloke in a short skirt…

I’ll just leave that thought there.

fair point

I did actually enjoy both. KoH I enjoyed because it took its time telling the story properly. Not some half baked chopped up version like we get today.

On that topic, anyone seen the Snyder version of Justice League yet?

If I ever was close to abusing my admin privileges, it’s the first half of this particular comment. If you wake up one morning with Gary Neville’s mug as your avatar, yeah, you can call me out!

You did not get to the part where the japanese girl jumps in front of the train after seeing her own face?

There is one particularly bad torture porn movie, one of the lesser known ones (I can’t remember what it’s called right now) but the guy is tied to a chair and submerged in a tank of battery acid, this is being streamed live by the killer.

But despite (a) drowning in battery acid and (b) having his flesh burning off his bones, he manages to provide a clue to his cop partner by blinking more code.

FFS. You might as have had a unicorn swoop down and rescue him.

Ah Untraceable… Jumping on the band wagon… Sadly released when I was still working as a cinema projectionist and had the unfortunate job of building and then sitting through to confirm quality of said film.

Reminds me of a great/bad/horrific tale of another projectionist who ran Hostel 1 or 2 in a screening for a kids morning film… Cue sacked… Luckily got caught by the last 18 rated trailor!

My Octopus Teacher - weird as fuck.

It is highly acclaimed, but its in appreciating how differently you react to a film like this that a film like this that drives home how I differently my brain, or emotions, works to most people. Most people seemed to view it as an incredibly heart warming film that should stimulate some introspection. I just couldnt get passed how fucking weird the guy was. I got real Piers Morgan thinks he’s in a relationship with Megan Markle because they spoke once energy from him.

Untraceable, that’s the one.

I remember watching Law Abiding Citizen in the cinema. Myself and my wife sat through that tripe and at the end I was so angry at how bad it was, I managed to get my money back off the cinema! Apart from 300, I avoid anything with Gerard Butler.

Haha the only Butler film I like is Reign of Fire, and thats not the greatest piece of cinematic experience!

Just saw the new Saw movie Spiral getting moved forward to May. Excited about this new reboot and hopefully it can spur on a whole new series of Saw movies. It really excited me when they announced this a few years ago and getting Chris Rock who initiated this reboot and Samuel L Jackson onto the movie is a major coup for the series I think.

Any series that I hope there is a reboot and spin off a new series is The Purge

Watched Whiplash in 2 stints over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it.
