Would have liked to see Clive Owen as Bond instead or Daniel Craig. Would have loved Idris Elba at one point, but agree probably too old to start now.

Not sure who I would pick. There was a scene in the Loki movie which made me think for the first time that Tom Hiddleston could do a good Bond.

Probably John Boyega would get my vote though if I could only pick one.

I heard Richard Madden (the guy in GOT and The Bodyguard) is the favourite… If they go down that road, they may well consider Jon Snow (Kit Harrington)… he was quite good in the film Spooks

My wife’s shortlist (which is picked purely on which actors she fancies) are…

Rege Jean-Page
Sam Claflin
Alex Pettyfer
Tom Hardy
Theo James
Lucien Laviscount

I think Rege Jean-Page would be an awesome Bond.

Just my opinion but I feel like Kit would be an awful choice. Richard Madden would also be somewhat underwhelming.

Watched Free City (Ryan Reynolds) last night. A few chuckles in a pleasant little story. Could easily be a Saturday afternoon Tom Hanks movie.

I enjoyed it.

Yeah neither of them are very good actors. Madden is uncompelling and Harrington had a lot of flaws covered up by being an intentionally awkward and stilted character in GoT.

Luke Evans? I feel we need a proper Celtic version not some Saxon bloke they tried to dress up as Scottish.

Give him a proper Valleys accent too.

James Boyo

It says something about the power of Craig’s Bond that it is the one fllm due at the start of the pandemic which steadfastly refused to accept anything other than standard theatrical release and was willing to stubbornly wait nineteen months for it.

Haven’t Dune and Batman also waited or were they on a different timescale?

Watched ‘the Guilty’ this morning with Jake Gyllenhaal . Good cast, writing and directorial credits.

Summary

Dull movie.

I feel like Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the most underrated actors of the last 25 years.

He’s brilliant in pretty much everything I’ve seen him.

Dune - Original schedule Nov 2020
Batman - June 2021

But point well-taken. Others have decided to wait.

Can someone put a ‘spoiler alert’ on the posts from RFM please…

Yes, I agree. I was really looking forward to this film for that reason.

The answer to this is easy. Have strong female character in film then spin her her own movie in the cinematic universe, 007 can make a cameo, have they learned nothing from marvel? As for who I’d pick for it…I love Charlize Theron, even if role might have been better for her 10 yrs ago. But she is great actress, and looks good in anything. Stick her in a tux if you want to!

As far as actual 007, I’m a big fan of Hardy. I think he’s also a great actor. He’d do well in the ‘grittier’ portrayal of bond that Craig was asked to do.

As for best ever… there is a reason they are still making these movies and that is because Sean Connery was brilliant. I’m not a fan of Roger Moore, but think that’s a case of goofy bond movie plots in 70s and 80s and I think he did the role a bit past his prime. I like Craig’s portrayal. I also really liked goldeneye with Brosnan, but that may have been the case where I was just the right age to really love the movie. Haven’t rewatched it recently. Brosnan movies after that were ok, I like the Craig library better.

Once Jason Bourne hit the screens, James Bond had to step it up…
So if they opt for a female Bond surely she won’t be known as 007 anymore…
More like 38-24-36 eh… yeah that sounds ok to meeeee! :0)
