Going to be a monster hit. $119M already, and it hasn’t opened in China (well, officially) or the United States yet.
Dune. You must watch new Dune. Preferably on a cinema like I did, but you must watch it. It is fantastic !
Lots of great performances in Jaws. I’m a big fan of Robert Shaw - he was also fantastic in the Sting (as were Robert Redford and Paul Newman).
Been wondering, if anyone has watched Annihilation on Netflix now, starring Natalie Portman,
it is a Sci-Fi film. Could they give an opinion if it is extremely good… or extremely crap…!
I’ve watched it twice trying to make my mind up… but still can’t.!!!
Not sure I could watch it a third time though… so any help would be appreciated
Ha, I was the same. I remember it being very anticipated and me thinking it didn’t live up to expectations. I read there were treatments of concepts I didn’t pick up on and so I assumed I missed it/misunderstood it and gave it credit for that and moved on.
I think there were other books in the series it was based on but the lack of success of the film presumably put paid to any plans to adapt them.
Is it a case of:
“being so garbage it’s brilliant” or
“brilliantly garbage”
Going by the comments of the film by others… There are so many layers to it that you either ‘get it’ and think it is absolutely brilliant… or, you just don’t ‘get it’, in which case you think it is crap!
Darn it, going to have to watch it now.
This forum is dangerous. I’ve even watched a couple of Tom Cruise films recently to see if it harbored any thoughts of him being a bit of a nut job after @BigJon’s comments on it. I’m afraid it did.
Pretty sure I read a while ago about Richard Dreyfuss having Bipolar disorder. Which makes his acting all the more impressive.
I put it down as extremely good crap. The way it looked into depression I found interesting but not developped enough, the rest is sit back and enjoy I think until you get to the end where some concentration is needed.
It certainly isn’t bad in my book as I have watched it 3 times since 2018.
Much as I love The Beatles with all my heart, I’ve never really been bothered about ‘Let It Be’ as a viewing experience or an album. But, I’m very excited to see Peter Jackson’s 3-part series next month!
Watched The Sting for the first time a few weeks ago. Fabulous movie, Ocean’s 11 done years before
The original version of Oceans 11 is from the 60’s. Starred Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. I would take The Sting over both though. Love that film!
New batman movie looks interesting. Probably better than I was expecting. I would really love to see a director with a background in good horror films get the chance to make a batman film - really get to see the villains fear him.
I had the kneejerk wtf reaction when I heard it was Robert Pattinson, but then when I had a little more time to reflect I decided it was best to judge these things on their own merit.
The teaser trailer looked promising, I haven’t seen the latest one yet because I’m watching something terrible on the Horror channel.
How many times can they rehash Batman or Superman? Have some originality already!
