Pretty much. Nine hours down to five, two films instead of three.
Ah well.
Pretty much. Nine hours down to five, two films instead of three.
Ah well.
We just watched the first one actually.
It’s not bad, but doesn’t compare to the LOTR trilogy. A lot of the CG looks very shit, and as said above, a lot of extra bits tagged on which probably shouldn’t have been.
The hobbit is a bit a shit book anyway (said as an enormous LotR fan who has read the simlarilian about 10 times). It really has little place in the middle earth mythology, other than being a vehicle for the ring to resurface and so any film was always going to struggle.
Hold on.
I’m watching Nobody, which is great BTW, and then it just became my all time favourite film and it’s not even ended…
I enjoyed the hobbit book as a kid, but I haven’t read it since then.
It is surprisingly good.
Wrong thread!
It’s the name of a film…
In its day it was a laugh out loud one as well…
It is a stage play now and travelling the country and making audiences laugh
We watched the last two hobbit films last night. In general I enjoyed them more than the first one.
My major issue throughout though, and I understand this is not unique to the Hobbit, was the inconsistency of enemy threat and of dwarf fighting ability.
Like Smaug could breathe fire, and frequently he would do so with no success, but then when literally face to face with Thorin, he doesn’t bother. And when fighting, the dwarves were either completely useless and immediately captured (like when discovered in Lake Town), or they were able to defeat enemy after enemy with no issue and the introduction of 13 dwarves at the end was the difference between imminent defeat and the turn of the tide.
Was able to do a Group Share thing on Disney last night and watch Encanto with my son. I’d never seen it before but it’s become his new obsession - thought it was a lovely movie with lots of great songs.
I do like that these new kids animated movies have underlying “real” issues. In the case of Encanto that issue is invisible wounds and depression. Certainly makes it much more interesting as an adult although it will of course go over a child’s head.
Spotlight on Netflix atm.
Where did Michael Keaton disappear to all those years?
I reckon he is great.
Michael Keaton has always been great (although I didn’t like those batman movies). I often wondered where he had got to as he seemed to have disappeared for a while. It’s good to see him back making movies again.
There’s very little I’ve seen that I didn’t like him in. Even great in Mr. Mom.
Keaton is in a new film (about a month old on Amazon) called The Protégé with Samuel L Jackson,I’d never heard of it before it premiered but it was a pretty decent action film,a lot better than I was expecting tbh.
Yeah, he has a few things coming out. He’s in a show called dopesick, Mobius- a marvel superhero universe film as the vulture again has finished filming i think, and he will be in the Flash - reprising his Batman character!
Peanut Butter Falcon
Not bad for an independent film, not sure why hollywood fails to recognise Labeouf as the supremely talented actor he is.
Never been keen on him to be honest. He always seems to play characters as he did in the Transformers movies he did and I found them annoying. purely a personal view on my part
