He’s in Panto in Sheffield this Xmas if anyone’s in the area
Maybe this has been posted but if you want a good cry and a good movie, watch Dancer in the Dark. It’s brutally sad and the only reason I didn’t cry was because of the distraction caused by Bjork singing… I mean it’s because real men don’t cry!
Don’t know about that. I often cry when I hear Bjork “singing”.
Demolition
Jake Gylenhaal in this is how I feel most days.only that I don’t have millions in the bank to be able to do what he does.
I wasn’t aware there was a book behind it but the whole feel of a journey, a journey to kill someone, trying to understand that person, themselves, inner thoughts, monologues etc etc was very reminiscent of Apocalypse Now to me.
Iight look up the book but the film just left me at odds to be honest.
I find it interesting that the book is so “thin” and both films are so bloated!

New one to me. I might hunt it out tonight.
Watched Uncharted with the family last night (jnr’s choice) A cross between Ocean’s 11, National Treasure, Borne and Goonies. Deliciously stupid, a proper “put brain in park and laugh AT it” film. Jnr loved it, for different reasons, so did I. The call-backs and references to the old classics are very good, surprised they’ve got away with some of them. Not a good film but fun.
Having read the community guidelines, I shall try again and make my post more useful and less obscene despite so many posts being considerably more offensive and less useful. If you need to remove it please can you let me know the reason.
Having watched Uncharted, I thought the film contained racist undertones and the intentional use of racist symbolism and therefore I would not recommend this movie to anyone.
I’ve seen Uncharted and can’t remember much about(popcorn movie that didn’t really hold my attention) can you remind me of the specifics of the alleged racist undertones and the intentional use of racist symbolism as its not a movie I intend sitting through any time soon.
Unless I get steaming drunk again(likely)
I could when I have a bit more time. It would only be my opinion though; there’s no smoking gun.
After hearing that Stallone owns no IP from the Rocky films and has had no role in the newest creed I’ll give it a pass. I thought 1 was a decent redemption from the disappointing Rocky Balboa, but Adonis isnt interesting enough to bother with in the absence of Rocky
That’s great
Uncharted Spoilers
So the plot of the film is that the good guys are trying to steal billions of dollars of treasure from the Government of the Philippines.
Meanwhile the bad guys are also trying to steal billions of dollars of treasure from the Government of the Philippines.
Since the motivation is the same, what is the actual difference between the good guys and the bad guys? I’m glad you asked.
The good guys are two white americans, played by Tom Holland and famous ex-racist (you can google it) Mark Wahlberg.
The main bad guy is Spaniard Antonio Banderas
The second main bad guy is Afican American female Tati Gabrielle who kills Antonio Banderas, so I guess the only black character was actually the main bad guy all along.
The henchmen are a guy of (i believe) South Asian decent and a token white man who is Scottish and exists just so they can make fun of his accent, which if he was from, say China, would definitely be construed as offensive.
Additionally there is the turncoat love interest who is played by a Pakistani actress.
Other films by the director include Zombieland & Zombieland 2 which are about four white people in a zombie apocalypse who are having white people problems. The Mule, with famous racist Clint Eastwood where a white guy is taken advantage of by an evil South American drug cartel. Venom, in which white guy Eddie Brock has to stop evil Pakistani Riz Ahmed from from his nefarious experiments.
In Uncharted, they also take the decision for some reason to show a character (one of the good white americans, but can’t rememvber which one) texting a and also physically doing the okay symbol, when in fact nobody in real life has made an ok sign since the 90s or perhaps even the 80s, and nobody ever texts the symbol since it only takes half a second to type ‘ok’. When people do use a symbol it is almost always a
It’s my opinion this was a deliberate choice and are included as white power references.
As I say, no smoking gun, just general impressions.
Interesting that it’s directed by Michael B Jordan
Mark Kermode has a massive head.
