I realise that this whole thing is just a ruse to draw me out into the limelight, and I’m flattered, I really am.
However, I hope you all won’t be too disappointed if I reluctantly demur. I have met online acquaintances in real life in the past with disastrous consequences. Understandably, they are initially awestruck and fawning, but this can develop into obsessive behaviour and even stalking. There will be constant attempts to extract the secrets of my legendary posting style, which become tiresome to be frank.
I’m afraid I’ll have to continue to accept the adulation from afar and hope that nobody is too disappointed.
I’m sure your little ‘shindig’ will be delightfully entertaining, even if it lacks the star quality I would have provided.
