Just came across this from the unreliable rumours thread from nearly 4 years ago. Made me chuckle

It’s DailyFail, take it with a grain of salt.

Iraola is no longer on the top of Mancs list of managers selection.

This means that Iraola should likely be available if, I don’t know, some other club needed a new coach that plays front-foot, high-pressing football.

We are too deep into getting rid of Slot discussion, while we totally ignored Mancs new Manager.

It’s not as bad as give Giggsy or our version of give Stevie the job and DOF as Klopp, however his circumstances have been favourable and we will see

Season starts in August and they had been eliminated from all cup competitions by then.

This is an interesting take on the sustainability of Carrick’s success at Utd

https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/48744645/why-man-united-think-twice-hiring-carrick-permanent-coach

His ppg prorates to 84 points for a full season, just 1 back of what Arsenal achieved. But he points to stats suggesting considerable over performances relative to the foundational stats you’d normally look to as a longer term predictability of success. He draws comparisons to Fergie’s last title win, where Utd were way better than they should have been because RVP scored a good number of goals no had reason to think he should have been able to score. That positions the drop off the following season not as big drop in performance, but more in reversion to the mean in how results aligned with these foundational stats.

Carrick did well and galvanized a team that was significantly underperforming. He also benefitted from just one game a week.

He deservedly gets the job but he is still relatively unproven, and we will see what he can do with a full season, more games, and more expectation.

As pointed out he was being sacked by Boro 18 months ago.

As things stand, I would put money on them being above us at the end of next season.

I don’t.

If only football was played on paper not grass, we’d be champions again :squinting_face_with_tongue::face_blowing_a_kiss::left_facing_fist:
