Cash in hand is better than what someone might potentially earn in future.
I suspect the same might be true for Trent as well in different ways. The sportsmen know their bodies the best. Suspect for a Trent , he doesn’t want to risk a stay in Liverpool because of the fear that he’ll be found out in the premier league. Which is something as far as recent seasons go can’t be entirely ruled out.
Instead he’s got a very good signing on fee and a stay for 4 years or so (whatever his contract states) in Madrid. That too with comparitively less taxes and a huge signing on fee and increased wages.
People might see Trent’s transfer move as an ambition move but I however see it as a lack of ambition. He doesn’t have the drive anymore to lead Liverpool to titles.
Same goes for Rashford , he might be talking the talk but he isn’t walking the walk.
Antony seemed to be a decent player at Betis, probably will end trying to get a loan. The problem is Man Utd have gone yeah we want to get rid of all these players so the clubs are like well we can bide our time.
They will probably have to end up supplementing some of the wages.
Ultimately they haven’t just set these contracts up they’ve basically declared them for sale and not wanted before the window opened.
It’s such a poorly run club and Radcliffe should have said to Amorim to shut the fuck up. Slot hasn’t been going around shouting who he wants to fuck off has he?
Yeah sorry I was being facetious. But I regularly talk to people who change career to something lower paying (and in certain ways ‘harder’) because it was more rewarding. I’m sure it’s the same within professions, in this case a footballer - for instance AOC - moving for less money and more ‘work’ on the training pitch in order to play for Liverpool and Jurgen.
I’m pretty sure it’s a minority.
The reward for most ‘work’ is the pay.
Recently I’ve been struggling to keep my daughter calm as she’s feeling pressure at work. I said to be patient and test the other options and she did. She found that her conditions and pay was better than most of the competition was offering. So she’ll bite her tongue a little longer. She’ll find something better eventually.
I do think a good number of footballers prefer playing and accept that is a motivation to accept a less prestigious position. Even so prestige can easily work the other way. There’s a lot who are very willing to take the money in the middle east.
To be honest I applied for a job that was less pay a few months back as it was outside of London and thus cheaper to rent so the pay decrease wasn’t a major factor. It was probably a similar workload though it should have technically been more.
I’ve given up a (relatively) successful career as a real estate agent to follow a career in cricket, which with wildlife and LFC, are my three great passions in life. Getting into wildlife again is a no with a family and I’m never getting a job at LFC so here we are. I’m the Cricket Services Manager for a Sub Union of Cricket South Africa, I’m a Level 3 umpire and I have started my own Academy which together pay me a third of what I used to make.
My finances are in flux and the wife has taken some convincing, let me tell you. I do work a lot harder, long hot days on the field of play plus tons of admin. Somehow doesn’t actually feel like work, though. Point is, for some people if you’re doing something that feels rewarding, the fact you could be making more elsewhere doesn’t always matter.
Sounds more of a complete change than a changing job.
Sure you can find people who have gone with complete reset. Often if it works out one can say ‘good on you’.
My point is still very pertinent as we were talking about top level footballers staying within football. Which is in general what most people do as otherwise they, if they are not wealthy and/or ‘famous’, have to reset as you did and restart at the bottom of the heap.
It is interesting however not completely in context and I am sure that most on here understood my point even if there’s exceptions.
They’ve been talking about Mbeumo in the past tense for weeks and yet it is still rumbling on. They would fuck up a pot noodle (either kind). I wonder which month Ruben gets canned?
Wasn’t too long ago they would try and lowball spend all summer and then pay the price. I assume they’ve been throwing these figures to the press to drive down the price Brentford wanted all a long. That or they keep low balling to the point Brentford are like lolz.
Doesn’t particularly sound like the player has his heart set eithier if Brentford can lift it time and time again.
