If you remove the cups and consider we won the title with a month to spare we didn’t win 5 in a row in the league last season.
We did do five in a row due to the CL.

Is it five in a row Premier League games? Or give in a row any competitive game?
Still a tall order, but the latter is obviously much easier.
Seems to include cups then again Man Utd don’t have Europe this season.
Maybe they will beat the Dog and Duck early on in the Kangaroo Cup, so they only have to win four Premier League games?
Still beyond them, mind.
Poor bastard will be including games against their own youth side soon enough
He’ll have to. Desperate times etc.
Isn’t that a golf tournament in the bottom right?
Tough league game up next for Utd as they take on the team 5 places and two points ahead of them in what could already be a season defining 6 pointer against the clubs big north west rivals … Burnley
Just a reminder that last season’s Premier League champions got the same number of points from these two fixtures last season.
It’s always nice seeing Man Utd drop points. I’m not ready to bury them yet though, unfortunately. They did do well against Arsenal, even though they lost. It was a toe-to-toe sort of game, and another day that result could have been different.
They didn’t hit the same level today and could only draw at the Cottage. Time will tell whether that was a bad result, or not too bad. I suspect the latter, as Fulham are a tidy side, especially at home.
Still, with five dropped points after two games, and given all the previous, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if they started to wobble. The quality has gone up and they are better up front in Cunha and Mbuemo, and we will know soon enough if they are still mentally fragile.
They are in the scenario I noted a little earlier in the thread. Burnley is now a must-win. Two points after 3 matches (two at home) puts them chasing the CL spots and building doubt. If they can get the win against Burnley, Amorim probably gets time. If they don’t though, September is not likely to build confidence in his management.
Let’s go Burnley! If Man Utd drop yet more points, they can stew over it during the international break. Love it.
Every other team in the league play with 3 in the middle, the formation Amorim is stuck to with 2 in the middle and one of those constantly being Bruno is destined to fail. Throw in an old overweight washed up Casemiro alongside him and it becomes a joke. They were lucky to avoid relegation last season, they won’t be so lucky this season.
But, but just over a week ago… …
MANCHESTER – Manchester United lost to Arsenal in their opener on Aug 17, but Ruben Amorim remained full of optimism and said his rebuilt team can now beat anybody in the English Premier League as the club try to put last season’s woeful 15th-place finish behind them.
Shows how bad they are that even a loss papered over the cracks… for a week.
It’s destined to fail because of the personnel and not the tactics. Lot of teams play with a square middle 4. Even we do as well at times too (especially during transitions)
Amorim’s tactics aren’t anything new. Especially if one of the defenders does come forward to form a double pivot of sorts in the midfield.
Where United will struggle is the profile of players they have in defense and midfield. Casemiro struggles to see beyond 60 min in a game. Mainoo isn’t suited to the system , ugarte is a limited enforcer who will get overrun when opponents send players down the middle. Bruno doesn’t track back and help defensively enough. And is all over the place running like a headless chicken.
None of the defenders show enough ball passing skills to step into the midfield during transitions.
They have improved as far as their attacking play is concerned. He seems to have gotten his wingbacks and #10s pretty well setup. Cunha and Mbuemo are solid upgrades over what they had prior. Amad and Dorgu as wingbacks make sense too. The problem however remains as to their striker. Don’t think they need anyone flashy there but what little I’ve seen of Sesko makes him look rather passive in the build up play. They need a forward who’s more involved in the build up play. I suppose he still needs more time though. He’s only recently come into the side and the league.
And this all goes to shit if there’s a long term injury happening and there are plenty of candidates for those. Shaw , Mount , Any of Cunha or mbuemo. They’re fucked.
