They went for the little-known dickheads only policy, instead.
Seems about right
5 fucking minutes. Damn you!
Remember the arrogance of those cunts.
“We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of. Watch this space.”
- Ed Woodward.
Fair to say that they deserve everything that’s coming to them
Yes, a little bit harsh on Phil. Good player but £142m for a lad Barca didn’t really want is witchcraft really.
“OK. Let’s double that price then”
- Every other club in the World.
Thick cunt.
To be fair, no other club would dream of blowing £80M on a CB with the agility of a boulder
No other club would even think of getting a 36 year old washed up striker on a 500k per week deal.
Genius on our part no question but Phil will always be a decent player. When his back’s OK obviously.
Phil was a 50 million pound player who sold for 142, Maguire is. 20 million pound player who sold for 80.
Phil had injuries and a loss of confidence he seems on his way back from, Maguire was mostly solid, if Neanderthal in past years, but looks to have totally lost confidence this season.
I think you might be remembering the goal where the ball went over his shoulder, he swivelled and volleyed it in. Talking about Platt goal?
There is often this weird consensus that seems to develop around a player of being considered the best player available in his position. That consensus may be smoke and mirrors, but the fact it is believed can send their price tag rocketing. This is what happened with Kepa after we bought alison, and also what appears to have happened with Maguire after we bought Virgil. We should after all remember that City were pursuing him as well.
I think it is partly a supply and demand issue in that the removal of one such player from the market makes the remaining players thought to fit the profile be under increased demand. The fact Utd get sucked into this is a marker of their lack of invention of thinking for themselves more than it reflects badly on their identification of maguire per se.
At Hull, then especially Leicester, Harry Maguire looked like a decent enough central defender. Never a great player, but a stout English type - win your headers, strong, give it simple, be a bit of a threat on set pieces, and that’s about it. Once or twice he went on a Joel Matip tear up the field, but usually to no avail.
He is a mid level Prem defender, no more than that.
I don’t know what word we would use, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say crap, in an absolute sense, because he could play. Somewhat.
The difficulty is the price and the profile. 80M. Ouch. All of a sudden, with a price tag like that, he should be world class. He is nowhere near, so he is called crap. And the other difficulty is the profile of the team he plays for, and the struggles they have. It all just exacerbates his limitations.
They might cut their losses, and if they do, a team like Everton might be the next step.
Maguire has never been more than a stout, old school, limited, English style central defender. Oh, and obviously Leicester played a blinder to get that fee.
I think he has regressed but he isn’t the only who has at that club, as solid defender, now he just looks a calamity
Yeah that was it
Slabhead is so good that he’s created a new football position: the False 4.
A Championship Level defender who had some years of over achievement OR a mid level premier league defender who is having a bad run of form.
I tend to think the former and he’s right back to his level. He won’t even be a top championship level defender FWIW.
Fits right in with the other farce of footballers they have in
Fred - The false 6
Pogba - The false footballer
Wan Bissaka - The false wingback
