So within a matter of hours Israel has now launched assassination attempts in both Beirut and Tehran. Iranian state television has already blamed Israel for the death of Ismail Haniyeh and said that it would delay a cease-fire in Gaza by several months and prompt a retaliation from the militant groups in the region backed by Iran.

If we weren’t already on the road towards a regional conflict , then we certainly are now.

Neither Hamas nor the current Israeli government are reliable partners in any ceasefire nor permanent peace. They both have a vested interest in a continued war.

Hamas had already accepted the ceasefire agreement though , even if it was only to preserve their own existence in Gaza.

Who cares about the Palestinians caught in the middle ?

Don’t forget the innocent Israelis who didn’t ask for this either. Blame the warmongers, not the civilians, many of whom who would well have voted against this government, like the many Palestinians who would rather be free from Hamas.

It’s ironic how Hamas expects to still stay in power after this.

A ceasefire should have the condition of Hamas’s military surrender.

It’s also laughable that Fatah and Hamas recently announced a plan for joint governance of the strip once the fighting stops. As if Israel are going to allow Hamas to be involved in any post-conflict settlement. It ain’t gonna happen.

Again, as I’ve expressed many times through this thread, I’d just wish someone locked Hamas and the Israeli right-wing into a room together and let the other people live in harmony.

Make the new Iranian President look weak or push him into the laps of the hardliners. Neither is good for the region. Netanyahu is unhinged.

I wonder if Benji is trying to drag the US (and then us) into a war with Iran before the US Election, knowing Trump might tell him to fuck right off…but we know Biden gives the go-ahead eventually

Why would Trump tell him to fuck off? The Republicans are so far up Netanyahu’s ass they need a breathing apparatus.

I thought he’d come out against the genocide. Must be wrong. Maybe he was going on about Russia/Ukraine.

Both the democrats and republicans would give the go ahead for the war.

If Trump wins , He would implement a worse version of the Trump Peace Plan which would ensure even less land for the Palestinians.

If Harris wins , There would be some more land being spared but largely will have the similar features of the Trump Peace Plan as in “an undertaking signed by the Palestinian representatives to not take Israel to the ICJ etc”.

Either way, the end result for the Palestinians would likely be the same.

FIFY

Probably. At various times he has said things like it doesn’t make sense that Gaza is not part of Israel, using terms more akin to a real estate deal than the political realities

There are US politicians who are critical of Israel and they’re all in the Democratic Party - Sanders, Cortez, Tlaib, Omar etc.

Sure. But then they are amongst the minorites. Too little to effect any meaningful change.
