Itā€™s not like the Biden administration has been saying otherwiseā€¦

Probably the most peculiar news of the day.

A yazidi girl (11 at the time) that was captured by ISIS during the attempted genocide of Yazidis, gang raped by several warriors, was later sold as a sex slave to a Palestinian ISIS member, raped again and later forced to marry him. She was saved a few days ago after 11 years as a sex slave. A good reminder of the sad fate of the small ethnic group Yazidis. Many Yazidi (and some other non-Muslims) slaves are still being held, trafficked around the Middle East by extremist salafists and whabists, who see the Yazidis as devil worshippers and unfit to be treated as human beings. So they are sex slaves or in some cases, conscripted wives. The Yazidi men were just killed of course, as you may remember from the time when ISIS was expanding and cleansing itā€™s so called caliphate of unortodox believers and non-Muslims.

If the IDF assassinate him Iran will go much, much bigger in retaliation than weā€™ve seenā€¦ and Israel will have then have the pretext it has been wanting to go after Iran.

Why is it so surprising? Wars are down to economics. And then the media is used to package and sell it it in a palatable form (e.g., human rights, fight for freedom, etc.).

Why is China dangerous? How many countries has it bombed or invaded? It is an enemy simply because of its growth in economic might that threatens Western economic competitiveness.

Why is Israel supported and not the Palestinians? Again, for economic reasons. Israel is just simply very rich and influential while the Palestinians are not.

People are selfish. War is terrible.

Unclean devil worshippers yet clean enough for you to stick your penis in.

Makes complete sense.

Didnā€™t it do just that in India, Vietnam, and Korea? The resident Southeast Asian Reds might also tell you all about what itā€™s doing in the South China Seaā€¦

I guess all the rhetoric about Taiwan is just for show and not an actual intent to take the island?

Iā€™m not sure why we should be cheering for an autocracy to have more power and inlfuenceā€¦

Iā€™d disagree, because the very obvious cultural and historical reasons are stronger motivators. Israel is a problem created by Europe and the US, and it simply is political taboo to acknowledge that they have crossed over into being the antagonists.

There are no good guys nor bad guys here.

They didnā€™t invade India. The India - China relations are a whole different cesspit altogether with idiocy and oneupmanship on both sides

Chinaā€™s imperialist ambitions are incumbent on them economically bankrupting their friendly countries into a debt trap.

They are most likely not going to kill a foreign minister of an enemy state, even if they are actively at war. It is against norms (mostly because states agree that having political leaders killed is not something they want etc.), but the point is that Israel is already breaking some norms regarding hostilities and itā€™s a risk because if he visits a Hezbollah operations room and itā€™s bombed, then he dies etc.

Exactly. He will be going into a very dangerous place, and Israel might excuse its actions if he is assassinated, by saying they were going after Hezbollah operatives to stop the rockets coming over the border into northern Israel.

The ingredients are there for an ā€˜accidentā€™ even if States do not officially want to take out leaders of other States.

Even if nothing happens with this one, an Israeli response to Iran is coming, and depending on the scale, Iran will want to hit back.

I canā€™t escape a nagging thought about how close Iran is to having the bomb, otherwise their recent salvo into Israel was very misjudged, even if they will have been so angry watching what happened in Gaza, and now to Hezbollah.

Hmmmā€¦

Not condoning or supporting anything. Just pointing out that the two supposed sides (U.S. vs China) are more common than you think and just as morally corrupt as each other.

Posting because the direction of attack is interesting and because itā€™s relatively many casualties.
