even in the most brainwashed demented state of mind thered HAVE to be some basic human instinct that told you not to do what you were doing…
i mean, how deviod of intelligence do you have to be to realise any human, not to mention a child, is only a product of the information they recieve (regarding religion)
Why is it so surprising? Wars are down to economics. And then the media is used to package and sell it it in a palatable form (e.g., human rights, fight for freedom, etc.).
Why is China dangerous? How many countries has it bombed or invaded? It is an enemy simply because of its growth in economic might that threatens Western economic competitiveness.
Why is Israel supported and not the Palestinians? Again, for economic reasons. Israel is just simply very rich and influential while the Palestinians are not.
Didn’t it do just that in India, Vietnam, and Korea? The resident Southeast Asian Reds might also tell you all about what it’s doing in the South China Sea…
I guess all the rhetoric about Taiwan is just for show and not an actual intent to take the island?
I’m not sure why we should be cheering for an autocracy to have more power and inlfuence…
I’d disagree, because the very obvious cultural and historical reasons are stronger motivators. Israel is a problem created by Europe and the US, and it simply is political taboo to acknowledge that they have crossed over into being the antagonists.
They are most likely not going to kill a foreign minister of an enemy state, even if they are actively at war. It is against norms (mostly because states agree that having political leaders killed is not something they want etc.), but the point is that Israel is already breaking some norms regarding hostilities and it’s a risk because if he visits a Hezbollah operations room and it’s bombed, then he dies etc.
Exactly. He will be going into a very dangerous place, and Israel might excuse its actions if he is assassinated, by saying they were going after Hezbollah operatives to stop the rockets coming over the border into northern Israel.
The ingredients are there for an ‘accident’ even if States do not officially want to take out leaders of other States.
Even if nothing happens with this one, an Israeli response to Iran is coming, and depending on the scale, Iran will want to hit back.
I can’t escape a nagging thought about how close Iran is to having the bomb, otherwise their recent salvo into Israel was very misjudged, even if they will have been so angry watching what happened in Gaza, and now to Hezbollah.
Not condoning or supporting anything. Just pointing out that the two supposed sides (U.S. vs China) are more common than you think and just as morally corrupt as each other.
Yes, and the problem is that a non-normal relationship with a state keeps helping the lunatics in power. A more collaborative and constructive relationship might also help ease the internal situation in Iran regarding the rights of women etc. Instead of this, the lunatics in power on both sides go to the extremes, because they know that it will help them keep in power.
Nothing helped cementing the Ayatollah’s power better than Iraq’s aggression at the time.
