The Middle East Thread

I’m just saying that the region has been horribly mismanaged ever since the fall of the Ottoman Empire.

And it’s not just the Israel equation.

Iraq since the gulf war.

Syria.

Radical Sunni terrorist outfits like ISIS , radical Shia terrorist outfits like Hezbollah , Saddam , the existing Sunni-Shia conflict.

Things have almost always escalated there with interventions of various countries.

None of which has happened without explicit external intervention, specifically the European colonial powers to begin with and then predominantly the US (ever since oil was discovered). It’s more than a bit myopic and dismissive to just blame the region and its inhabitants themselves.
This version of Iran is the result of longstanding US meddling, Israel was shunted in by multiple colonial powers, Saddam was directly supported by the US once they fucked up their chances in Iran. Any attempt at democracy in Egypt was regularly undermined by the US. The CIA created Al Qaeda to combat Russians in Afghanistan. Western powers also had a hand in the creation of ISIS.

Not to mention the funding of Pakistan as well.

Going back nearly 100 years prior to the British-US led Iranian coup, Persia was described as a chessboard on which the world powers play a game for global domination. It is a part of the world that is squashed between great imperialist powers and experienced frequent destabilizing effects of their conflicts, even before the impacts of oil exploitation became an issue.

Sinwar reported killed. Maybe they can stop the extermination now.

If anyone thinks that all-consuming hatred hasn’t permanently taken hold of a number of these young survivors who have seen their family and friends blown up, flattened, dismembered, and incinerated before their very eyes, then they are deluding themselves.

Well yeah, General Zia ul Haq. And when he outlived his usefulness, off he went on a convenient plane crash.

"Netanyahu says evil has “suffered a heavy blow” but warns that the “task before us is not yet complete”. That’ll be a no then.

It’ll only be complete when his government is exterminated and people who have a genuine interest in peace are in charge.

The US president, Joe Biden, said the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar raises “the prospect of a ceasefire” and “represents a moment of justice”.

He said that Sinwar “had the blood of Americans and Israelis, Palestinians and Germans and so many others on his hands”. Biden made the comments as he met Germany’s chancellor, Olaf Scholz, in Berlin on Friday.

Even if you don’t count the thousands of Palestinians, Lebanese, and Yemenis as humans, you should have remembered the Western aid workers murdered by Israel.

It’s never going to become a total victory.

Even if Israel has gained enough territory and it thinks it has gained enough deterrence. All its done is push the next generation forward.

You can’t kill the idealogy. Neither can they indefinitely supress a nation’s right for self determination.

We’re well beyond that.

I mean common sense doesn’t apply anymore.

Sinwar was a dead man walking the minute he orchestrated those crimes.

Does killing him make a difference in the long run ? Nope.

I’m really nervous about the heightened US/Western engagement in Bangladesh. These scumbags are always up to no-good.

Yunus is a western plant.

Have you heard of the CIA project called Jamaat e Islami???

Yep.

I would have been more critical of the whole movement to uproot Hasina were it not for the fact that Hasina was such a cunt.
