The Middle East Thread

Honestly, it will be though. Not the total victory many in israel seems to want with ethnic cleansing, but a major victory even so:

Exactly this

And swallowing it, I doubt they will.

But they are the ones to make the decisions.

Not Hamas, but a pretty damn clear indicator of what is ahead

This means that Hamas might accept it anyway. Hard to see how they could not, as these states are vital backers

I’ve no doubt that neither Israel or America will honor the agreement. Israel will do whatever it wants to do, in time, and if this agreement is a stepping stone to their ultimate aims they will play along.

Palestine is caught between a rock and a hard place.

Edit
And is Trump itching for a Nobel peace prize, before he pops his clogs, in the hope that it will see him enter in via the pearly gates, rather than the alternate he fears?

To be frank. The Palestinians will lose in this situation regardless, as Hamas has lost a war on behalf of Palestinians given that they have no big powerful backers. There is no world where the conditions would not be challenging. But if this can stop the Israeli campaign and open up real aid as well as means to rebuild, it’s absolutely as good as could be hoped for and should be welcomed if it comes into effect.

Because this:

There are people, mostly Western people who read sub-optimal sources, who thinks that this should be rejected out of hand and that Hamas should wait for a better offer. But what better offer ? Palestinians actually inside Gaza, welcome it irrespective of what a Hamas politico in Qatar claims.

But yes, the deal is bad. It really is, giving Israel several off ramps if Hamas don’t do this or that, as well as Trump’s blessing to annihilate them if they refuse and so on. But the political situation for them sucks (Hamas). For the sake of the civilians who wants to live and pick up the pieces of their lives, this is as good as it can get.

Notably: the deal contains conditions that Netanyahu will have a hard time selling to his coalition partners (Right of return to Gaza if anyone leaves and more), so it’s not all bad. But yes, quite possible the Israelis will sabotage it. Time will tell. But Netanyahu is afraid of Trump…

Yep, rock and a hard place. Keep getting annihilated now, or accept a flawed deal? It’s a lifeline, which is better than nothing.

It’s being widely said that Hamas should accept the deal as it’s good for the general people.

However, there’s no guarantee that Israel will not stop flow of aids into Gaza, and there’s nothing, absolutely noting the Saudis, or the Emiratis (the Egyptians or the Jordanites don’t even count) can do to force aids into Gaza.

There’s no guarantee that Israel will not carry out incursions (not to mention air raids, drone attacks, or artillery barrages) into Gaza, and the let’s not kid ourselves with the notion that the ISF will be of any deterrence to Israeli attacks.

The list can go on, and on, and on.

Having said that, Hamas should accept the deal. Get the time they need to regroup, and specially, to take a long and hard look at their flawed strategy.

Finally, the Gaza plan seems very much like Hong Kong 2.0. The next trouble isn’t far behind.

And is Pakistan recognizing Israel with that statement ?

wow. Just another Abraham Accord then

You’ve to look at it with the Abraham accords in mind. This guarantees Israel access (both through connectivity) and other trade opportunities to ME and NA regions. And from the middle East further opportunities to south asia (with Pakistan now coming on board as well).

The Palestinians, if they accept the deal , are reduced to leaving in a demilitarized zone henceforth with absolutely no further improvement of the boundary situations. It’s basically enclaves right now.

What is basically happening right now is the enforcement of the trump peace plan. Which begs the question, if at all , Palestinians are forced to accept this , why even go into all this of getting this totally forced upon you for an even less of what they would have been getting then ?

And absolutely no repurcussions what so ever got Netanyahu and his cabal of war criminals.

It’s certain that they will continue with occupation and bombardments every few years. This genocide will be forgotten and Israel will have full backing of the West for more destruction anytime there is a slight hint of Palestinian resistance

Essentially, it is a Mandate Plan from the last century, there is absolutely no denying that. It’s Trump after all, can absolutely not expect anything better (it was far less evil than I thought it would be to put it mildly) But it’s extraordinary unllikely to be a better peace at least within a couple of years and even that is a massive gamble.

So if Hamas doesn’t accept it, I don’t know what the full consequences will be, but everything can always get a lot worse and failure to accept means that the Palestinians will lose political support of the Arab states and in Trump’s word, Israel will then be free to do what is necessary with Hamas and he will support that etc.
In very short term, it means continuation of war and more displacement.

After watching these two interviews one might conclude that even those involved in ā€˜negotiation’ feel there’s too many vagueness which will to Israel’s advantage.

Predictably, info just in that the Israeli Navy has contacted them, demanding that they change course.
They are now being boarded, at least some of the ships.

(you can translate or find the same info elsewhere)
Camera’s on many of the ships and boats are now getting shut down. They are now jammed so signals will be down from now on. They have also put on clothes they want to have on in prison and (at least on ships carrying Norwegians) thrown knives and everything that can resemble weapons overboard.

Israeli statement if you want it.

Anyway, it’s probably soon over now. Hopefully, nothing shots will be fired.

Last official statement from the flotilla

Israeli video of some boarding.

And that’s it for now.

Edit: Doesn’t actually show boarding.
