Saw this lot while skimming through Glastonbury last night and I only wish I had discovered them earlier. I have been listening to them all morning; this is quite stupendous:

Ok, we’re now both Janelle Monae fans

August 7. The greatest of them all at shoreline amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. Can’t wait.

Greatest?

Easily in my book. But the again no one should read my books.

Greater than Aretha, Janis, Amy, Grace, Joni?

(To name but a few).

I only know one of her songs.

For me yes. I think she’s insane. But @cynicaloldgit thinks I am as well.

Her journey has been amazing. I just happen to know some of it because of her road to Buddhism and so her albums ring true to me.

Try these in order if you have a few minutes and you’ll see it:

Uninvited is a fabulous song.

Totally agree @Roydom . Maybe her very best.

Here it is from a few weeks ago. Still brilliant.

PS: @Bekloppt I probably shouldn’t have said she’s the greatest of all of them. I’m from the Knopfler school of all your favorite music comes with moments. And I always discover something enlightening listening to her.

I’ve been checking her tour dates hoping for a gig in Ireland but nothing yet.

I saw Joan Jett and The Blackhearts are the support for some of her shows. That is an awesome night.

Glad to see that Kevin Rowland is as nutty as ever.

Polly Harvey is some kind of genius
