Great story from Mani…

The Stone Roses bassist Mani has confessed that he did not realise his tour advance payment would be so big.

The star revealed that he went to a cashpoint to withdraw money for food shopping only to discover that £2 million had been deposited into his account, reports the @#$

Mani told his friends back home in Stockport: "It’s madness. I only went out to buy milk and things. I went to the cashpoint and someone has stuck nearly £2 million in while I wasn’t looking.

“The whole world’s gone crazy. I could have fallen over backwards when I saw the balance.”

The band were aware that they would receive an advance from the high sales of their reunion tour and festival dates, but did not know it would be as much as they have been given.

One of my all time favourite albums and DEFINITELY my favourite concept album (beating Dream Theater’s Metropolis II: Scenes From a Memory and Maiden’s Seventh Son of a Seventh Son):

It’s nearly impossible to top something of that magnitude.

It’s 10 years to the day that Lemmy from Motörhead left the planet. This was the performance that introduced them to me:

Can’t help but think the world turned to shite without him.

Basically, it turned out that the whole of civilisation was being held together by Lemmy, Bowie and Prince.

not entirely true…the ends started to get frayed once Freddie stepped off this mortal coil

I remember seeing the Motörhead Glastonbury performance in that summer, and felt it was a bit below par. When Lemmy died it rather made sense. I think I had put the Bowie album on pre-order just after Christmas so I was looking forward to that.

Come to think of it, my wife bought me a Prince album that Christmas.

I think I might be a jinx.

I was going to mention your pivotal role in the collapse of civilisation RW, but I thought it better to leave it to you.

Did you by any chance start listening to Type O Negative at the start of 2010?

No, although I did have tickets to see Nirvana in 1994. I also had round John Lennon type NHS glasses in 1980.

I’m not some sort of grim reaper for the music industry. I’m not actually a dog either.
