The happiest song in the world & The saddest song in the world.

Of course it is entirely subjective and personal. What’s your 2 picks?

Happiest

Saddest

Yeah. Petula. Heard this one yesterday. What a voice. Not a bad tune either.

Don’t know about the happiest song and don’t know if it’s the saddest song in the world, but the Green Green Grass made me cry.

OK, anyone else feels that Leonard Cohen songs are like recitals! Different, very different.

I have tried to find a place in my heart for his music and I understand his appeal and popularity but it just doesn’t gel with me. A bit like marmite I guess, you either love it or hate it.

For what it is worth… Persevering with LC until the penny drops… Could be the greatest thing anyone ever does.
He had only the same words to use that we have at our disposal…
yet could anyone ever assemble them in such a magnificent order that he did.!
So many images, portrayed from so few lines… Enjoy

Under-rated songwriters …

Chris Difford of Squeeze. Labelled With Love was produced by Elvis Costello during his “Country” period. The video for Up The Junction was filmed at John Lennons old house.

Another vastly under-rated songwriter - Jason Isbell formerly of The Drive By Truckers. Solo acoustic version. His words cut like a knife.

I know someone who’d agree with you. And he’s a poet. Too.

Anyway. I’m not a Led Zepp fan, even though I saw them at Earls Court in 1975. Nonetheless, this always makes me feel good, and I’m sure there are plenty of people around the world these days who feel like feeling good. So here’s some Rock n’ Roll …
