Is there any basis to consider FSG might be readying the club for sale?

  1. Refusing to replace Slot and therefore not having a manager on a long term deal
  2. Squad rebuilding acquiring lots of younger players on long term deals
  3. Warming the club down from the Klopp years, so it is more portable

Might be overthinking and trying to make sense of how Slot is still here, together with Henry’s age. But this could be the missing key to where we are.

It was always the last one that mattered, in before the lock!

I think you could make a case for that. I would also add the advancing years of some of the main people, not least John Henry. Does he want to cash in, or does he want to bequeath a sporting empire to his heirs and/or Linda Pizzutti?

He may want to cash in and put a chunk of the dough in more liquid assets, both to enjoy it, and have better flexibility on how to pass it on.

Just speculating, mind. There are not too many people with ~£5Billion, but there are some. Whether or not they will be suitable custodians is another matter, on a case by case basis.

Edit
Age is a matter of perspective. Henry is 76 and probably in good health. He can easily live another 10+ years, and may see the value of LFC rise much further once the games are ‘broadcast’ on various platforms and generating even more wealth. Hard to say.

Thank you. Thats the detail I couldnt be bothered to write so abstracted

Ive seen posts on X, frequent enough, calling for Musk to buy LFC.

Oh please god, no.

It worries me how few people with the kind of money to buy the club that I would actually trust. I suppose a faceless sports corporation is preferable than being rich kid looking for a new toy.

10th post in :raised_fist: :victory_hand:. I made in here.

If Musk even sniffs near club, the whole LFC fanbase will make his life hell and I will galvanise all the Liverpool mums to go after him. We gave Hicks and Gillete a hard time.

Yeah Im not too enamoured with it, but its juat click bait, Musk shows no interest in sports, does he? We’re also buying Mbappe in the same measure.

I do have a hunch though Henry might be fattening the lamb.

And keeping Slot in place so that we welcome our new overlords when they arrive?

Yep think so, because then he would be more easily removable - to suit such new owners - which is why he isnt getting this new deal which seems to have evaporated.

I can think of a more obvious reason why a new deal for Slot might have evaporated…

Not sure this makes sense to me. If they wanted a quick/soonish sale, then getting rid of Arne and replacing him with the much ‘sexier’ Xabi would surely make the club an easier sale. Otherwise its easier to see the club as potentially facing a bigger rebuild under new ownership and a lower valuation as a result.

Not sure that tallys with spending so much on Isak.

Hey?

Think the club is likely to be be bought by consortium rather than as an individual’s plaything. Which would be a horrendously risky situation anyway. We’re not in the days of rich local businessmen buying their lifelong club anymore.

Completely agree. I wouldn’t have thought anyone local would be in the running, especially at such a price. So it would either be a very rich person or as you say, some sort of consortium. If and when it happens I’m sure as fans we will assess it on a case by case basis, and react accordingly.

Steve Morgan will offer 6 pound 70

Indeed, but I had expected you would have read Deleuze by now, and know, that linear A+B=C causality, is old hat. There can be multiple reasons for things which occur, of which we only are shown the surface outward reasoning. But both reasoning could still apply.
