The Owners - FSG (Part 2)

Why would they be so fixated with Enrique if they were planning to sell anyway? And why would he come btw, knowing that? Sounds like bs.

Oh, Anfield Watch. Nevermind…

Yeah, I think this ‘rumour’ is probably conflating different factors. We know FSG are willing to wait for the manager of their choice to become available (they did it with Jurgen, and if true may help explain why Xabi wasn’t being considered this summer).

FSG have been rumoured to be trying to sell up for almost every year for the last decade. It may be truer now as there are fewer members of FSG wanting to be actively involved and/ or live in the UK but it could just be that they are still seeking outside investors to free up some cash rather than sell out completely.

Staveley is rumoured to be looking for clubs again and one would think that her network of potential investors would have been more than willing to fund a bid for our club if it were openly available?

I mean looking back, the complete reversal on the multi-club plans should have been a clue. The Las Vegas NBA franchise would be wayy more lucrative than anything any football club could produce, so that also tracks.
Leaving that Enrique story aside, it’s too much of a coincidence that Slot, Huges, Edwards, Virgil will all leave LFC at the same time. Salah also would have gone the same time had he stayed the entirety of his contract.

Not buying the new shirt tomorrow might send a message… just saying

I don’t really understand this bit and how it pertains to anything relating to a sale.

Let’s say Salah is making £450k a week or about £23.5m a year. The suggestion is his deal ending next summer would have been appealing to new owners as it’s a cost coming off the books? Same for Virg too? Huge players that will need replacing but we won’t get a fee for but that’s supposed to be a good thing for new owners to potentially deal with almost immediately after taking over?

But then at the same time we’ve just splashed a huge amount of cash and committed huge wages on long contracts, albeit it not Salah or Virg levels, to the likes of Ekitike, Isak and Wirtz. And there are on going conversations of new deals for Szobo and Konate.

The Edwards, Hughes and Slot contract is less of an issue or sign of anything. Edwards is persuaded to return and brings Hughes with him. Why would you give Hughes a longer deal than the man who brought him in? And you also wouldn’t give him just a two year deal where essentially you’re needing to renegotiating that after one. Slot on a three year deal made sense too. You need the security of more than a two year deal but three felt right for a manager taking a big step up.

As a potential new owner is impending job of replacing a bunch of club legends possibly the manager and the DoF more appealing than some stability. And if you’re spending £4bn on us isn’t sacking a manager or DoF on the deal with a year or two longer on it that big if a deal?

Just not seeing the connection or consistency of why any of it suggests a sale is pending bar the multi-club thing. And even then they may have looked around at those doing it and thought is it really worthwhile? Girona are in a relegation battle, Strasbourg are just a Chelsea dumping ground, John Textor seems to have screwed over a bunch of clubs playing this game. Perhaps there’s even some legislation coming that just makes it all far less appealing.

Not ruling out a sale but can’t see them riding out the Klopp years, having the biggest summer by any club ever and then basing their timing of making a sale on Slot and Salah’s contracts.

Even further…but on that line of reasoning, last summer was a punt at commercially inflating their asset. And so will this summer be then.

@rab @Barnestormer I am as confused as you are. I don’t know maybe that NBA Las Vegas franchise turned their heads…maybe having this big asset not so close to them has finally started wearing thin…maybe they’re lurking here wincing at the brickbats we are throwing at Slot thinking “We’re done with this”

Too late, I bought two on my last visit to Anfield

Not a lot makes sense right now. Top of the world (or England at least) to confusion and chaos in 12 months.

God I’m ready for a World Cup to distract from this for a bit and I don’t even give a shit about international football.

But World Cup in the US?

Sorry but 12 months after we won a league title, and with a club that has been sustainably well run, the club is still a very attractive proposal.

Anybody buying would basically be a manager and a transfer window away from fighting for the title and should be bullish about it.

So I don’t buy at all the alarmist tone.

Yer what, the clubs practically disintegrating.

I don’t have any doubt that FSG will sell as soon as the market affords them an opportunity. I’m just not sure that market exists at the moment. The most likely suitors are in the Gulf, and they’re all pulling back investment rather than increasing it.

I also don’t think it has anything to do with Slot’s position.

Henry and Pizzuti didn’t even bothered coming today. Instead they elected to go to Mallorca…Did they even watch the match?

I’m pretty sure an ex-manager of ours in Mallorca is watching this with a grim face.

It really feels like the white suits Spice Boys Liverpool. At least they are doing this at the end of the season rather than all these fancy marketing in the middle of a season as more distractions.

They look as miserable as this season has been.
