The Owners - FSG

Just a reminder that the very start of this conversation was @AnfieldRdDreamer stating he didn’t know much about finance, but…

A couple of month later, and a servers worth of posts, and he knows how to run a football club better than FSG.

Or, when the perfect centre back isn’t available until the summer, get a decent lad in on loan. Which is what happened.

Yeah it is. I once wanted Tom Ince I’m not infallible in my views on players. But, for context, first one was in discussion about him playing ahead of Phillips and Rhys Williams after he’d arrived and trying to see the glass half full. Second comment in context was specifically about a younger, developing CB for cover.

And you wonder why I get the feeling people don’t want me discussing this? You and the others have scared off anyone with a different opinion on the financing by the owners. Across the fan base theres a lot of different points of view. You and others start all this immature shit and drive away anyone you don’t agree with on here. Very much “my ball my rules” mentality.

This is overstated.

Klopp is the man we needed to get the ball rolling, but there is no reason to think the wheels will inevitably come off when he leaves.

Not much of a discussion if you just repeatedly say the same things over and over and over again ignoring all context and refuted points.

Don’t think anyone is bothered if you have a different opinion, but once all your issues have been countered, maybe try talking about something else?

Arrange for Kompany to be injured just before that Leicester match.

Maybe we end up taking the piss because your posts read very much like someone putting their fingers in their ears and going ‘I’M RIGHT I’M RIGHT I’M RIGHT’.

You’re not right. Lots of people have pointed flaws in your arguments. Whether that’s problems with your understanding of finance, misunderstanding the way Klopp or the club think about transfers, or just basic hindsightism that it isn’t fair to apply. When literally everyone is telling you you’re wrong, it’s worth stopping and having a think about whether your confidence in your own argument might be a tad misplaced.

And you did start this argument saying you don’t really understand the financial side of things.

No you are just wrong, over and over and over. And when the entire forum uses facts to show you this you spit out your dummy and cry wolf.

No, it’s just our clique of immature shitheads innit? Not sure if we can still call it a clique considering it’s literally been almost everyone participating in this thread calling out the logical fallacies and factual errors…

I look at Liverpool at this moment in time and I think what do we need this summer and I think we probably need a CM of some kind and the clearing out of some players, potentially some young potential such as the lad at Fulham.

Considering that, what’s the point of the club spending more than they currently have?

The takeaway from the above is that it is incredible how much time and energy people can spend on things that really aren’t even an issue.
Devote your efforts to a worthy cause!

Yep
There are a few die hard anti “conspiracy theory” posters from TIA who are muttering bias and corruption nowadays!

I think we don’t need a lot. I can’t see us doing much in defence or attack, and I can see it being midfield where we look.

Having said that, if the club have identified a player (say, Bellingham) and we’re getting encouragement from him and the club, but he isn’t available until next summer, I fully expect us to wait.

This is the point @AnfieldRdDreamer either doesnt either understand or accept. A huge part of our success is what we choose not to do. The reason we not seeing transfer misses like other clubs is because we’re not working our way down a list until we get one. We’re not accepting second best.

We do get signings right, but this does not mean we should just sign more players. If you’re working down a list of targets it stands to reason that the further you go down that list, the more questions there are, the bigger chance the player has of failing

I think we’ll get Carvalho, because that was pretty much done but for getting the paperwork over the line.

I also think, if we can get the big midfielder we will - whether that’s Bellingham, Gravenberch, Tchouameni or whoever. But if whoever they have identified isn’t available the club will wait. Everything they’ve done over the last few years suggests that. Yes, they can be opportunistic, but they don’t panic. They definitely won’t be working their way through targets until one bites.

This! Is the biggest difference in our transfer activity between Rogers and Klopp. And maybe it was initially just Klopp’s profile and nerve that gave the club the confidence to do nothing when it was better than doing something stupid (hi there Mario) but I really really hope it is something the owners have learned and will continue to have the courage to do after Klopp.

I don’t want them to not spend or to spend less, but I do t want the to waste money just so they can say they backed the team if a player who can actually help the team isn’t available.

Yup, I expect we are top talent like Carvalho and then a first team CM if they are available. It would be interesting to see if they go for an alternative in Bellingham if Klopp is off as that would only mean one season and I think some players may need a little convincing on that aspect.

That’s to say if Klopp goes in 2024, I’ve still got my doubts on that.

I’m starting to think that he might extend too. He was a bit loose lipped on the subject the other day, I think he realised and the tried to rein it in at his next presser.

Way I saw it, I don’t think we will see anything til the summer and maybe not even til spring/summer 2023.

Todays events should be a wake up call for a few people. No-one at TAN I think, but get out there in scary social media and you’ll find plenty of Liverpool Fans who openly call for the club to be bought by Oligarchs and Nation States. Anything to win what really matters - the annual who can spend the most money pissing contest.

If there is half a fucking brain cell amongst these cretins, it should be a very long time before we see the FSGOUT hashtag again.

I hope Chelsea really suffer from these sanctions. There should be no attempt to find a get out that allows the club to function normally. That’s not spoken from a tribal bantz point of view. It’s that football needs a slap in the face for the ways it’s welcomed this obscene, game changing wealth into the sport with barely a question asked. I’m just glad it wasn’t us.

As for Newcastle and City, if I were a fan of either of those clubs, I’d be asking serious questions about the long term security of their investments. The problem with sovereign wealth funds is that they are used to a meet a strategic aim. That aim can change overnight, as we saw with the Chinese Investment Fund (was it Inter that came a cropper with that?).
