The Owners - FSG

Imagine laying out the red carpet for a succession of billionaires to own football clubs, and imagining they won’t try and change it.

So, all the rumours starting again from UAE. DIC who wanted to buy LFC back in 2006, but the 2 fraudsters, Hicks & Gillette came in, are still interested in LFC now.

Edited: founder DIC member Sameer al Ansari and Shaikh Rashid Al Mokhtoum say they are fans of LFC.
Maybe this is the only way to compete with Man City and Newcastle.

However, we have a London Consortium interested in LFC.

If it’s DIC I would expect Klopp to quit on the spot. He cannot go from talking about the problems with sovereign wealth funds owning clubs to having Dubai’s fund paying him.

fully aware of this, my friend. it’s his business partner. that’s why I said “Ryan Reynold’s CLUB”

I think it will take a good year or so of painstaking negotiations and assurances on both sides. Maybe, the Shaikhs can convince Klopp of their sincere intentions to make sure they look after the club in a proper way.

:+1: I’m loving the show!

Sometimes I wonder, an owner like FSG, who might not be perfect, is an angel compared to some of the other billionaire owners in world football, and is still not liked by some section of fans, I don’t know who we would be expecting to own us. Someone who is damn filthy rich, who is ethical, who is an angel, and who will invest millions and millions of his own money regardless of how much the club is making. Yeah, good luck with that.

More links to DIC (and Conor McGregor) in the BBC rumours.

Dubai International Capital are interested in a move to buy the Reds despite failing to finalise a deal when trying to buy the club in 2007. (Arabian Business)

Meanwhile, two-time UFC champion Conor McGregor has claimed via his social media that he has requested information about buying Liverpool . (Mail)

What’s the point of inviting offers for minority stakes then? They might as well sell outright.

They’ve never leaked that they were seeking “minority investment” before. They’ve just made the sale, like they did with that stake they told to Redbird. That’s why I find it far more likely that they’re looking to sell a majority stake.

I think McGregor is just doing the usual mouthing.
Can’t see him having the money.

Agreed, Floyd Mayweather maybe does?

A quick glance and we can see that they aren’t any better than the other oil states in the region.

For instance:

Both Federal and Emirate law prohibit homosexuality and cross-dressing with punishment ranging from death, life in prison, floggings,[73] fines, deportation, chemical castration,[74][75] forced psychological treatments,[76] honor killings,[77] vigilante executions,[78][79] beatings,[80][81] forced anal examinations,[82] forced hormone injections,[83] and torture.[80][84]

There are also stories of forced disappearances and tortures regarding political protests. Let’s not beat around the bush: this is an outright dictatorship.

I don’t want this state to own the club of my heart, and will do anything I can to prevent it (very little, I know…). And if someone asks if I prefer us to linger in a mid-table position because we can’t compete anymore, I’ll answer that there are always means to be competitive despite of having less money. Especially a big club like ours can use its own revenues to stay competitive. We don’t need a sheikh to pump billions into the club in order to stay competitive. That’s a fallacious idea.

All we need is an owner who takes the club’s issues seriously and doesn’t use it to line up his own pockets. That is already a tall order admittedly, but I’ll never accept one of these sheikh cunts perverting everything around LFC.

I don’t have noble reasons for wanting certain owners and not wanting some others because of certain reasons. But I will still be supporting Liverpool even if today we are relegated. It will always be the only club for me. Today a fellow Liverpool fan told me that news that FSG might be out is great because he went to list out despite all the goods that FSG has done, the fact that FSG is not backing Klopp to buy more players is enough reason for FSG to be out. I asked him, so the biggest reason you support Liverpool is dependent on whether we win or not? As a fan, isn’t it a comfort to have owners and a manager who believes in working within the context of being a sustainable club? Of course I want to win! But if winning is all I wanted, there are plenty of clubs I can support. But Liverpool FC, for tiny me in a tiny nation thousands of KM away, it holds an inexplicable emotional link to me because of my Father and Grandfather who shows me delayed telecast matches in Singapore from the times of black and white TV. I respect that people support Liverpool for different reasons and we place varying importance on different aspects of the club. But to me, Liverpool appeals to me because it is a people’s club and even if it is relegated, I hope it never changes.

They published a statement following the story in the Athletic. They did the same when in discussions with a Chinese company that was being linked with buying the club outright a few years ago and when Parry was out canvassing for investment from the middle east a decade ago when people also said they were looking to sell up.
