I don’t believe we need that level of investment, what we need is a top up… We are a very profitable club with record revenues, £600mil to be broken this year and climbing (will increase more with the ARE). So I agree with redbj.
In an ideal world, the eventual owners should possess a connection to the fanbase.
I might be in the minority here, but I believe throwing money at players like Mbappe might not be the smartest move - LFC is a family first and foremost, team spirit follows closely behind… Being a platform for incoming superstars to showcase their talents on a global stage is way down the priorities for the good of Liverpool Football Club IMHO.
Look back at some of the black and white footage of the fans and Kop in its heyday… people’s lives revolved around football. We stand on the shoulders of giants and I for one would like to continue that thread of a connection going in my lifetime…
I think we will.
FSG are meeting SOS and emailing every supporter in the world and asking their opinion. John Henry will attend 43,856 focus groups as well. When all of the info is collated then a decision will be made. That will narrow suitors down to a final 5.
Simon Cowell will host a worldwide show to decide on the final three.
Then serious competition starts
I’d rather FSG allow a limited investment into the club.
Imagine if there was an organized group of fans who were able to purchase 5-10% of the club and have a seat at the table as a representation of the city.
So FSG could effectively launch the equivalent of a GFM deal right now for shares in the club then sell it with “us” onboard. Can’t see there being any issues there……
The cynical part of me says that if this drags on for 12 months, it almost gives FSG a pass on having to invest in January or Summer. “We’re looking for investment/a new owner.”
I would be frustrated if it pans out like that, especially as the current situation seems precarious. Two teams who have not been in the top four in recent years - Newcastle and Arsenal - are getting it together. Man City will be a top four fixture, Chelsea have cash and are underperforming. Spurs are stop-start but will be in the conversation too.
If we don’t get the investment needed to sort the midfield, in a timely manner, it could get worse for us.
