We also had Origi, Minamino and Mane leaving LFC last season. I don’t think it is a coincidence that the players that you mentioned are meant to replace those who departed from the club.
Mane is different to them two, he was our starter. Although credit to Taki for his cup goals last season. For a few seasons now, we have more players than we realistically need (of course, we have problems with injuries). But there’s no doubt a case can be made how well we spent that money.
If they are doing extremely daft stuff ( like losing the interest of their fans and media) to their very first franchise which John Henry has a direct interest on, where does that leave LFC?
“Ruining the Red Sox” = overseen 4 World Series wins in 18 years after going nearly 100 years without a single one.
Unrealistic supporters or maybe they don’t like to see all the players on massive overinflated contracts???
Personally I have no idea in regards to baseball and find it utterly boring
I think the Red Sox fanbase are generally considered to be pretty toxic.
Everton fans then
Yeah Majority of fans hated FSG. It’s easy to Google why FSG sucks and then paste all the tweets and reddits. Valid.
It is. For one, they should make the ball bigger so it’s easier to hit. Inflated contracts I have asked before because I always see in American sports they issue contracts like hundreds of millions to one player but answer I got and made sense to some degree is that sports like say basketball have lesser squad numbers and thus can handout huge contracts to one and its usually for a long period. But again I have pretty much no interest in any other sports than football
American sports are just shite.
Liverpool and Boston Red Sox: Two of the most successful teams in their sports in recent years yet both have fanbases who do nothing but complain.
I feel sorry for some of you really. If you can’t find anything else to enjoy about this, or any, sport other than signing the best players and lifting trophies then you’re missing out on so much.
Winning is the end goal, the beauty is in the journey to get there.
I love when we unearth gems or even better have players come through the academy and really hate the current player market being over inflated. Just wish we could take more punts on similar players to what Brighton have done.
The only player I would spend the current over inflated market price on is Bellingham and that would be through gritted teeth that is if it was my money
7 May 2019. Look at the starting 11 team that eliminated Messi’s Barca. Who’d expected us to find 4 goals? Look at the front 3 then and the likely front 3 now…
How many of the same will start again today (6, 7 or 8)?
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Milner, Shaqiri, Mane, Origi.
Of course but Klopp has been pretty vocal about needing to rebuild the team. That typically needs resources to achieve as there is only so much you can do from within,
Accidental heart from me!!!
The shame!!!
O THE SHAME!!!
If Jonah Lupton’s views are anywhere near as accurate as his views on investing, I’ll give them a wide berth, thanks.
Yes, we definitely need to buy this summer, the only point for me as others have said if we reach September 2023 with a midfield consisting of (for example)
Hendo
Thiago
Fabinho
Mount
Jones
Elliott
Bajcetic
- 1 other £30-£40m player
and Klopp says he is happy with his squad, then that should be enough. We shouldn’t be getting up in arms that he hasn’t been backed, because they didn’t buy Bellingham as we’ll never know if the price reaches £150m for him if Klopp says no (like he apparently did with Van Dijk) and we buy someobody else.
Or if we end up on a net spend of £30m because of shrewd sales and well structured deals, then that shouldn’t be seen as not backing him if they bring in all the players he needs.
Edited - forgot Jones
What purpose would there be for Klopp to say he’s not happy with the squad? At the beginning of the season no less.
The squad can easily be improved with more than two midfielders. Let alone one of them being Mason Mount.
The squad can easily be improved by buying six world class £80m midfielders.
That’s not the point.
If we end up buying Mount, who I use an example since we have been linked but he is not highly rated and another midfielder, then we have to assume that Klopp has signed off on that and is okay with that, because of everything he has said in the past about transfers; if a player arrives it’s because the people involved in transfers (which includes him) have agreed that that is who we should buy.
Everton fans that finally got a taste of success, and now think it’s their birthright.
About sums up Bosox fans IMO.
