The Owners - FSG

To reiterate what many have already mentioned; I’m in no way, shape, or form an FSG apologist. If anything I find Tom Werner to be a slimy, pandering, glory hunting weasel.

All that said, I do find it particularly galling that Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool Football Club have been made the scapegoats and the “face” of this entire ESL drama yet from my understanding this was the collective brainchild of RM and MU. Liverpool were only invitees.

Sell the fucking club FSG. Be the man. You don’t have the money to (at least to pour into the club) to compete with the Sheikhs and Russians. We don’t want to be another self-sustaining mid-table club.

What a fiasco; the ESL over before it began. Did the owners’ really think that there would be no reaction to their plans?

The failure to consult with the manager, the players or the fans before signing up to the ESL is deplorable.

I doubt anyone will trust them ever again.

Not being the first Club to pull out while the oil Clubs City and Chelsea are out makes us even look worse.

You do make an excellent point @GermanRed. It really is in FSG’s own hands now. I wonder if Tom will consult with Lebron and Maverick. Of which he was certain to remind everyone he loves to do with great frequency in The Athletic piece.

I suspect that American owners (us, United, Arsenal) are going to have to be dragged out kicking and screaming.

Problem is Henry had Vice President next to his name, it’s hard to say we were invited.

Maybe that was boiler plate stuff. I thought I read every clubs chairman was named VP. I could be wrong. You do also make a great point @mattyhurst.

We’re the big villains of the piece because Gary Neville went on the offensive

Maybe, I don’t know, I’m pretty sure only 6 of them were.

The longer he stays silent though the worse it gets, unless of course he comes out with something like Perez would and then it’s for the best.

What a bunch of pricks. They’re going to be left high and dry as the only fuckers still supporting this thing. Complete idiocy from Henry and co.

It’s like every now and then they forget that they own a club with the most militant fanbase in the country. They will not be forgiven for this.

If ESL falls through, do you think there’s any chance FSG sell the club?

Again, I’m as neutral as it comes right now with FSG but I don’t see any way back for them after this PR nightmare.

When the choice is FSG & ESL or no ESL and someone else in charge I’d rather take my chances and get rid of FSG. I’ve been very supportive of them, they’ve got the club on a good stable footing with a good first team squad and excellent new training facilities but ESL is a giant step past the line for me.

The new owners will just try the same in a few years.
