You’ve got a real eye, and talent too. I really appreciate the photos you post, cheers.
Still learning but wow thanks.
I mostly just look for light. Is the sun shining or reflecting on something? From there it gets easier.
I can’t for the life of me make a picture when it’s bright blue sky and I’ve got the whole area of black and white which I again can’t make work.
Went out for a walk after another miserable match and out of CL.
At least I saw something in red giving it all and singing beautifully!
Got to love Cardinals! In my middle age I have a bird set up at the front of my house, literally a few feet from where I sit in my chair to observe. Cardinals come in each day to feed. Loads of Bluejays too, and numerous other birds, as well as squirrels and chipmunks who steal the bird food.
It’s my peace and calm. Half an hour a day and then work, meetings, decisions, finances, and all the things … it helps me feel grounded.
I just put out the humming bird feeders too, as the temps are rising and they will be here soon.
Not quite Attenborough, but nature is beautiful, and the connection and observation is therapy in its own way. No screen, no phone. Just a fascination and a real joy in my life at the moment.
Take pictures of them. I’ll bet you’ll find some real joy in that.
Word of warning. Bird or wildlife photography is in a niche of its own. It takes some skill, a good chunk to learn and most of all patience.
Here’s a guy I follow on Instagram as it shows the basics of his editing technique. He’s a wildlife photographer.
It’s not good photos. But I thought the motive is nice (took it on April 6th), since it reminds me of a time before I was born.
These are, I think, pictures you might like.
I took these on my phone on April the 1st, at my mother’s place.
We had then had brilliant sunshine at the end of March, but on the last day of March, snow came. On the first day of April, “God” appeared in the overcast clouds.
Nice colours in the second batch @magnus.
The first two just need a bit of editing I think. There’s promise with them.
It sadly doesn’t capture the true light. It was completely grey and there wasn’t “real” daylight, snow in the air, then on the horizon, that happened. It was golden light, of the kind you do not at all see every year, with pink halos around it.
You are probably correct about the editing. I am no photographer and am only using my phone anyway
But yeah, the first batch was problematic, because I was short on time and had to zoom so much. The ship was sailing towards the dock. I didn’t want to capture the dock.
More interested in the motive than the quality of those tbh.
These are like fucking fairytale/fantasy scenes ![]()
This is Spring ![]()
So lush. I can almost smell the freshness ![]()
The weather here can be a bit confused in early spring, going from a week at the end of March where it feels like summer, to what you saw there. It is normal.
But spring has come, and it is rather lush now. I doubt we will have much snow again, but it could happen. But it would only be for a few days. It’s very green and lush here now.
I took this now so you can have an example of how it is today.
Note, that is not culture landscape any longer (there are no sheep or cattle there grassing). Once upon a time, it would have just been green there and looked different, but you need animals for that.
I’m absolutely kicking myself. Saturday coming back along the A55 into North Wales. Sun was setting, no wind, very hazy and a teeny bit of what looked like sea mist. The wind farm directly off shore from Rhyl, Hen Colwyn was absolutely unbelievable.
Completely surreal, with a perfect reflection and a horizon that almost disappeared.
You live here?
Yes. It’s from two different locations, but it’s 45 min drive (and 20 min ferry).
That is where I am from. Where my mother lives (for a variety of reasons, I visit her very often these days). The picture with the ship and the boats, is from the place I actually live. A nice place, but where my mother lives is nicer (in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in the entire country). It’s just difficult to live there in terms of work due to lack of people (and therefore lack of a variation of jobs).
Personally, I don’t like to live in cities. I prefer visiting those.
But the place I live, is more or less a tiny town.
This is where I live:
Not as nice as that picture from my mother’s place, of course, but okay (that picture is a stock picture and not mine). This picture covers only the seaside part of the town,of course.
OK, OK, we know you live in a beautiful country. Show-off ![]()
