It sounds like he may have taken his own life. It’s very sad, I always liked him.
He’s been in a bad way for some time has Ricky, one of the finest boxers to ever come out of Britain.
Rest easy young one.
During his career this was not uncommonly stated as his likely future. Even if not as a conscious decision but maybe more going on a bender he never pulls out of. This is a long time coming and the fact that course wasn’t able to be changed makes this even sadder
Surely he was older than 46 wasn’t he?
Met him a fair few times, nice bloke but clearly troubled
not surprised by the news today, however it’s happened
I worked at HMP Everthorpe as a PE officer and he came a couple of times to put on a show for the prisoners in our Sportshall, which they loved, lovely fella RIP Ricky
Sad to hear this. He seemed a nice bloke in the best of the old school working class tradition. Friendly, would do anything for you, approachable sort of bloke. He rose to the top in boxing, loved his football…
But as has been noted, a few too many benders and an ongoing struggle with his mental health, poor fella.
RIP Ricky Hatton. Only lived to 46 but achieved far more than most who live 30-40 years longer.
Saw At The Gates a few years back at Download headlining one of the smaller tents. They were excellent
They were never a band that I liked due to their lyrical content but I’ve always had utmost respect for them. These are sad news, it was only a few weeks ago that news of Lindberg’s health scare were disclosed but I didn’t think it would lead to his untimely death… Rest in peace.
Tbh before seeing them I’d never really listened to them, but a mate I was with wanted to see them. I can’t remember who was on the main stage but for whatever reason I couldn’t be bothered watching them so I went to see At the Gates with him and they were very good live. Can’t comment on their lyrics as I don’t know them well enough, just know the bands importance in Gothenburg scene alongside the likes of In Flames and Dark Tranquility
A good man passes away. RIP
Sad day.
But I’m still here. I think I’ll have a look at a couple of his films over the next few days.
Oh no! All the good ones are going.
I loved Robert Redford films, especially the classics.
He was a class act in Hollywood and environmental campaigner. I always usually associated him with Paul Newman. He was another of my favourite actors.
RIP and thank you for the wonderful films.
My favourites will always be Sneakers, The Sting, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid and Three days of the Condor.
Decent director too.
Loved him in The Natural when I was a kid.
What is it about baseball that makes it such an amazing film subject?

Sad to hear the news. Accomplished actor, director, and a good human being. RIP.
Sonny Curtis of the Crickets has died:
I only discovered recently that The Crickets continued after Buddy Holly’s death, but they produced some good records. I Fought the Law is probably better known by Bobby Fuller and The Clash versions, but The Crickets version with Sonny Curtis is really good:
