The R.I.P. thread

Well, we knew he wouldn’t outlive Ronnie Wood.

Fantastic drummer. One of the best. RIP.

One anecdote relates that in the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Jagger phoned Watts’s hotel room in the middle of the night, asking, “Where’s my drummer?” Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: “Don’t ever call me your drummer again. You’re my fucking singer!”

Terrible news. Charlie was one of the coolest cats out there and a huge musical influence on me. Absolute pisser :frowning: RIP Charlie

I know Charlie Watts is considered the sensible one with the best musical pedigree of the group. That’s about it as far as his public persona went. Sad news for the Stones fans out there and his loved ones.

I thought they would all live forever.

Charlie Watts was once asked how he would sum up his life as a musician - he said it was “5 years of playing and 25 years of just hanging around.”

A great drummer who will be sorely missed.

Probably having a drink and a smoke with Brian Jones right about now. Hope so. Maybe it’s better that Charlie arrive ahead of Jagger and Richards, smooth things over a bit.

Not a great drummer IMO. A solid deliverer of the beat. He’s quite unique in how he pauses his high hat beat on the snare beat. You can see it here on this live video of Monkey Man. I don’t know of another rock drummer who does it.

Rock on and RIP, Charlie.

Very sad. Pretty sure Girls aloud are up there amongst all the records involving all girl groups.

39 - it’s not fucking age is it.
RIP

Interest in her athletic career and in the forgotten league was revived in 1992 with the release of the Hollywood drama, A League of Their Own, starring Madonna, Tom Hanks and Geena Davis. The attention led to overdue recognition of the exploits of ignored female pioneers of pro baseball, as several, including Ms. Fox, were belatedly enshrined in sports halls of fame.

I’m truly reeling. Can’t imagine how the near and dear ones coped all those years. May they have peace at last.
