The R.I.P. thread

I heard he suffered a really bad bout of Covid recently… This might be the side effects eh!
Will have to wait and see what has happened…
Still in shock here…!

I don’t think it’s inappropriate to post this. A man who certainly knew how to live life if maybe not remain married :rofl:

It is the latest in a series of scandals legendary escapades for Warne.

Corrected.

My lad phoned me earlier to tell me. I thought he was confusing him with Rod Marsh. So very sad.

The 05 ashes series was when I got into cricket. It was showed on terrestrial tv here, first time I’d ever watched the game. Whilst I was ecstatic to see England win, Warne was the player who I most enjoyed watching. Anytime I’d play cricket I’d try to bowl like him.

Obviously a flawed character in parts but a good bloke deep down. A legend of the game, one of the best to have ever played. Gutted.

And by 05 you were seeing the tail end of his career.

RIP Warney but I only feel sorry for your Kids. Would be hard for them to reconcile the public adoration with the far from perfect presence as a dad. Hope they can forge ahead and enjoy healthy r/ships as adults and don’t have to live in his shadow. I wrote this earlier and deleted but on reflection think it should stay: he was a boofhead and a yob but that was just who he was - a traditional straight shooting working class Aussie male without artiface (away from a cricket ball) - but he must surely have regretted his role as a father as he lay dying alone. A real shame, Shane.

He had a reputation for preferring players who would graft rather than a crowd pleaser like Duncan McKenzie. He was asked once why he left him out and responded " If I want to see stars, I’ll look in the sky" :joy:

I loved him in Gorky Park, Body Heat, A History of Violence and, most importantly for me, Dark City. Rest in peace.
