Yeah, one of his parents is a big St. Etienne fan and that’s why was named Etienne.
Reading Redcafe, someone posted that they want refs to do post-match interviews, similar to managers and players to explain their decisions. Whilst I can understand where the idea is coming from, personally I don’t think this is the right approach as refs will feel under attack and get their backs up defending themselves which won’t help things.
I think a better option would be for the ref to sit down post game with the 2 managers and then the managers have free reign for a set time to ask what ever questions they want explained. Full details of that discussion can then be made available for any other ref or manager to veiw if they choose too.
There has to be more accountability for referees, but a post-match grilling is an awful idea. That would get very ugly very quickly.
Meeting with the two managers is a good idea if you believe every manager in the country is honest in the things they say, and Wenger “didn’t see it”.
There’s always going to be debate. That’s the nature of the beast. But at the least, we should start with teaching PL officials the rules.
I don’t think either are good ideas.
I think there is already post match ‘panels’ to asses refs performances.
I do feel refereeing standards need more accountability however also feel the need to protect refs from direct public/media scrutiny.
So my solution would veer towards the ‘panel’ assesments opening up more and progressively. Perhaps concentrating 1st on serious incidents, like Pickford’s challenge on VVD, and them trying to explain why the interpretation on field was made and what the interpretation should have been.
16/20 for me
14/20 … fell down on the last round.
Too lazy to start a Central and South American Football thread…
Never really thought of it but as someone who works with data a lot it’s surprising it hasn’t been raised previously.
When the data is being collected publicly on activities that occur regardless of whether the data was being collected, the individual tends not to have very much right over those data. So Im not sure there is much of a case here, at least not about the Opta sort of data that seems to be being referenced.
7,000 pieces of information on one individual player at a lower league football club
Can all of it be PII data?
Wouldn’t assume stuff like wages and height should be public but it seems to show up all over the Place.
Google translate informs Pukki is Goat in Finnish so there is the answer to who is the GOAT
This list is just embarrassing.
For the record…
Coutinho
Bergkamp
Henry
Suarez
Ginola
Asprilla
DiCanio
Kanu
McManaman
Fowler
Cantona
Imo, these guys above are all better ‘ballers’ than some of the ones on this list (Payet, Ronaldo, Modric for starters)
I might be biased but surely salah should be on that list above most of the players currently on there
What is a ‘baller?’
It is different to a footballer?
I have no intention of listening to a podcast to find out.
Haven’t a clue if I was judging on that I’d think players who scored against teams Richards and Shearer played in
