It’s been seized… there goes our transfer kitty

Apparently this is why

Only 9 players with two goalies outfield due to Covid, it was abandoned after 48 mins because only 7 players returned after half time and another went down on the 48th minute thus making it ineligible to continue.

I learnt this was a Lisboa derby when I visited and after learning of a third club went to visit the ground, it was being used as a testing site for Covid at the time.

Belenenses had many Covid cases and could not field more players at kick off. A goalkeeper started in midfield. Not sure why the game could not be moved.

After halftime just 6 players returned on the pitch and so the ref called the game off.

What a ducking sham.

Why play the game in the first play

Would a team be allowed to take field if they can’t start with 11 players???

Yes. I believe 1 goalkeeper + 6 outfield players is minimum.

Sounds like Man Utd this season

Diverson, how convenient.

When you act injured so much that you almost actually injure yourself in the process.

Genius.

Oh no another player with a broken back from playing football.

Burnley mixing high pressure at times when they’re usually a low block side.

:sunglasses:

Other interesting facts: Real are around 46th on that list, United are around 54th.

Fort William of the Highland League who were once considered to be the worst football team in Britain,
after not winning a game in something like 3 years, and cant even play games at their home ground due to the state of it, have just anounced a new manager with a rather impressive CV…

Good luck Shadab, (except when you play the mighty Clachnacuddin) you’ll bloody well need at the Fort

I found that is inhuman and ridiculous to continue to smash in the ball to score 20, but that’s just me.

And you thought the mens games were pointless

The whole international footy thing needs to be sorted out into like for like groups. It’s all very well scoring 5,6,7 or 8 goals in qualifiers for a major comp, but how entertaining is it really?

Totally agree. If you must have international matches, at least have them between teams of a similar level. What is the point of Italy v Gibraltar or Germany v Malta? It doesn’t help either team to win or lose 8 or 9-0.
Surely fans of the smaller teams would rather watch a game in which they had a chance of winning rather than hoping they can go 10 minutes without conceding.

Inhuman is going a bit far. They’re playing a game and are, at least on paper, both the elite footballers from their respective countries. If you don’t like teams scoring against you then try and stop them. It’s not on the winning team to ease up out of some sense of sympathy (and arguably that’s more disrespectful anyway - see Liverpool stopping trying to score at Old Trafford. Man Utd fans said that was more hurtful than seeing us score 3 more goals).

Whilst I agree with you in principal. You need to also look at context.

England women are fully professional, playing in a professional league, where as the Latvia women are not, and the Latvian womens league is amature.

That is nothing like us beating the mancs, but would be more like if we were to play against Sefton FC or some other Sunday league team

Like I said, inhuman is going too far. It’s a sport, if you don’t want to get beat then either don’t play or stop the other team from scoring.

I’ve lost 20-0 before, I think it was actually 24-0, and I don’t remember the other team being accused of lacking humanity.

It can be argued it’s a bit disrespectful but I don’t buy into the concept of that either.
