The Random Football Debate Thread

I’d be worried about this. I wouldn’t put it past Pep to use this technique to boost Cheatys income to bypass FFP :zipper_mouth_face:

Dallas have pulled out after West Ham walked off during their game after accusations of racist comments being made by the Dallas players

Looks to be going well.

They also have “the US Women’s National Team” in the tournment and they lost 17-0 to a Wrexham XI much to the amusement of the internet.

However that seems intentionally misleading.

The womens team is a collection of random former college players, most of whom did not go pro and those that did retired nearly a decade ago.

The Wrexham players are undoubtedly past their best but its made up of the likes of Dan Jones, Lee Trundle, Liam Grimshaw, Louis Lloyd, Mark Carrington, Paul Rutherford, George Boyd, David Jones and Daniel Jarvis - all of whom are still active players or retired in 2022.

Cynically I think the tournament intentionally labelled that women’s team as the US National Team in order to draw in views from misogynists wanting to laugh at women’s football.

Sums up some football fans

Quite clever really considering there is no winners in that so they get to keep the 1m.

Top 3 assist makers in major 5 European leagues this season, all competitions:

Bruyne 31
Messi 20
Griezmann 19

Class is permanent.

Any chance Salah makes the top 5 with 16?

Close, but no. Kvaratskhelia and Kolo Muani have 17. Salah is tied with Musiala on 16.

Surprised to see Messi in there, nevermind as the highest rated.

Would’ve thought Kane or that galloper.

Most pundits just put an 8 next to Messi.

Messi - top ten for goals and #1 for assists. Yes it’s france and yes there are some really unremarkable players who scored goals in that league this year, but even at this age he is still performing.

3-year contract, yeah.

Was anyone aware of Steve Bruce’s literary career? He published three detective novels in the late 90’s, called Striker!, Sweeper! and Defender!.

“Football centric murder and mayhem”, apparently.

As you were.

Yes, never read them though.

Terry venables also had some success in this area he wrote or co-wrote some books - some of which spawned a tv show (Hazell).

I used to read these all the time
