At the risk of going slightly off topic, your theory would imply that there are aliens among us who are less developed than we are. If the aliens were superior, he would be able to use his powers to be better than his rivals. However, this doesn’t appear to be the case. This is the fatal flaw in your hypothesis.
There is only one conclusion.

Hmm, interesting. So maybe there is a hellish blue planet somewhere in the deep reaches of space where a savage group of aliens live. Their language consists purely of booing. Somehow, this unsophisticated bunch managed to build a spaceship capable of reaching Earth (more research needed here), and once here interbred with humans, thereby creating a mutant who accidentally (more research needed here too) became manager of Manchester United.
It’s far fetched, but you could probably get enough people to believe it in order to create a cult capable of taking over the world.
