Ineptitude. Now we’re getting somewhere.
You’re a very angry person aren’t you? I hope everything is okay.
It was Skipp on Diaz I think. Diaz was working the ball across the box looking for a shooting angle, and Skipp put in a shocker of a challenge. Proper ankle breaker. I was shocked when Diaz got up, because I thought he was done.
So yes, the Jota challenge on Skipp wasn’t great, but Skipp shouldn’t have even been on the pitch to be the recipient of it.
Like Robbo on Kane.

This is how you debate?
Well done.
You have excelled yourself
A penalty awarded to West Ham during Erik ten Hag's final match in charge of Man Utd was a 'misread', according to refereeing boss Howard Webb.
He speaks like VAR is some computerised drone but then we are talking about Michael Oliver, it seems somewhat obvious to this that VAR is taking the decision off the pitch and that should only be the case if its obvious or an offside. I really do think it should stick to offside and any errors with goal line tech.

Following an internal investigation regarding David Coote, PGMOL have decided the best course of action to take here is…
Everton to be deducted 10 points.

“What evidence we have now, the video itself, came as a huge surprise to me,” said Peter Walton in The Times on Monday night. "There are some Premier League referees I consider more loose-lipped, and more laddish in their behaviour away from the public spotlight. “David is not one of them.”

Do we?
This could be hugely damaging to the game and having it all play out on the grubby world of social media isn’t going to resolve anything. All it’ll do is feed the conspiracy nonsense, erode what little trust is left and ultimately see less people choose to go into a profession that is vital to the game.
Coote should rightly get the boot but some fans need to dial down the levels they’re taking this too. Claims of titles lost because of what he’s said on this video is just strawman arguments.
Ultimately there’s a human being at the heart of this who has just fucked his career for voicing an opinion on someone he’s crossed paths with in a professional capacity. It wasn’t big or clever but it was just a human mistake. He’ll be punished but the level of pile on and readings into what this all means is getting a bit unedifying.

The claims that titles were lost were based on what he did (or didn’t do) on the pitch. The conspiracy element is that he had it in for Klopp and Liverpool, rather than him just being incompetent, which that video would now seem to back.
However, you can’t say that he was deliberately giving decisions against our interests without assessing every game that he has officiated on, whether it affected us or not.
My suspicion is that PGMOL knew he was a liability but didn’t do anything about it because they didn’t want to set a precedent that many others could fall foul of.
Fucking boo hoo.
I thought our win rate dropped into the 50-60% range while Coote was officiating? A stat that was mentioned earlier in this thread.
Since 2020 he’s been either the ref or on VAR for 22 of our games. Our record stands at 13 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses.
As the on-field official, 9 games. 6 wins 1 draw and 2 losses after the Villa game.
I haven’t seen the games in chronological order so the win % drop may be to do with after a certain point in time (before picking back up again).

CRAIG HOPE: We wanted - indeed, want - our referees to be robots , one step removed from our being, especially in an age of VAR. Free-kick. Corner. Yellow card. Red card.
VAR should review things in that photo…

I agree with you that this stuff is not good for the game, and I don’t think it is anything to celebrate. Not sure about the rest.
The thing that disappointed me the most about the video was how shit it was. It was shit people on shit drugs doing shit humour in a shit setting after (probably) a shit night out. Watching the sad cunt find a picture of him and James Milner on Google was tragic. Cootseh called Klopp a cunt! What a legend!
It goes back to what a few of us have been saying. These are people in positions of responsibility doing a very challenging job in the public glare, and it seems very few of them are up to it. These are mediocre people at the highest level of their profession because the accountability to properly reward excellence and root out mediocrity doesn’t exist.
I’m not that arsed about whether Coote is biased against Liverpool (incidentally, he absolutely fucking is), I’m concerned about his professionalism. A professional would have a seriousness about the job. A professional be able to take his refereeing outside the context of his own bias. A professional wouldn’t get caught in a twats flat getting called a legend for saying disparaging things about a club.
We’ve seen for a while that there a bit of a lads ‘bantz culture’ at the centre of PGMOL and a deep lack of professionalism. Webbeh looks after his lads, Riles isn’t going to throw his mate under the bus, Big Ol’s doesn’t like like it when he’s sent to the screen. Circle the wagons round Cooteseh. Good process, boys. Well done.
The video casts a bit of a light on what these lads are like, and with every new thing - an autobiographical confession, admission of something or other, post retirement banter story and so on, increasingly we are left with the impression that they are a cliquey, weird insular gang of pricks.
I’ve mentioned it before and I will reiterate.
They will play the mental health card.
Which is reprehensible for the guys actually suffering from mental health issues.
The conspiracy element is that he had it in for Klopp and Liverpool, rather than him just being incompetent, which that video would now seem to back.
I disagree. You can think someone you encounter in a professional capacity is a dick and still do your job and interact with them in a professional manner.
Saying he thinks Klopp was arrogant doesn’t mean every decision he gave against us was influenced by that perception. That seems to be the conclusion people are reaching.
What I do take from that video is he’s a bit of a dopey twat, with some poor personal judgement and an inflated opinion of himself. It’s far more likely his crap decisions are more heavily influenced by that than his opinion of Jürgen.
