On the Sky Sports news scroller it did mention that Coote acknowledged that the conversation did take place but it was “banter between mates”. He did book the player he said he’d book but the challenge looked like a bookable one.

When you are a professional, there are things you can’t do. For example as a CEO, you can’t joke with an employee about firing them.
This is an impressive lack of judgement, but then with Coote, it is now a recurring theme.

The FA says it is investigating an allegation that referee David Coote discussed giving a yellow card with a fan before a Championship match.
Coote says he denies the new claims and calls them "false and defamatory allegations.”
