So David Cootes has now apologised and reflected on his actions and lack of professionalism. Now, I don’t know if he has done it deliberately as another dig at The Club/Fanbase or he is simply just that stupid but guess what Rag he sold his story to….

Yes, he’s done a big ‘woe is me’ interview with the fucking rag and probably been paid what the rest of us would take 5 years to earn.
He’s really, really sorry for what he said about Jurgen. Hasn’t ruled out a return to refereeing in the future.

I have some sympathy with him over his sexuality as that is the sort of thing that the tabloids would be all over. But I can’t see that it is any defence for the drug taking, betting scams and general incompetence.
I can see how perhaps being closeted might lead to the drug use, but that doesn’t excuse the complete lack of professionalism.
I think its really poor to use mental health issues and sexuality in a battery of excuses for his behaviour. Its playing on people giving sympathy where its really not due.
His choice of interview outlet is beyond comprehension. If his apology to Klopp is meant to be genuine then why put it in that cesspit?
Klopp wouldn’t speak to the rag, so how is he to process an apology in it? Thats fucking nonsense.
Mental health and sexuality are serious issues for people in society. Either or both might lead to drug taking, might lead to poor choices. But for either to be wheeled out as a routine excuse only serves to compound the original failing.

Why is the discussion on origins of Liverpool songs in this thread?
Someone was moaning about Villa and Forrest singing it and claimed it was ‘our song’ I was pointing out the history of it coming from Porto, so we don’t really have claim to it really being our song

The problem is that those with genuine mental health issues are often reluctant to come forward with it for fear that it will be weaponised against them. It’s the same with sexuality. I’d like to think it wouldn’t be an issue, but I have already seen someone using the “rent boy” slur on social media.
Incidentally, has the FA published the full report into Coote or was it only his dismissal that was made public?

There are so many avenues for people to seek help, to get support in lifes struggles.
If his story was genuine, then he wouldn’t have gone to that cesspit paper for his interview? He is using genuine peoples everyday difficulties to absolve him from blame for his stupidity.
We all have things we regret.
We sort them without looking to ultimately profit.
