We have a respect campaign running. Should only be another week before you can tell the ref to fuck off though.
On their first, the back line was a jagged mess and Jacquet played him on by the tiniest margin.

I didn’t like the positioning of Sam Barrott when we were in the build up play. He seemed to have the knack of cutting off the passing lane to the player near to him.
No surprise that Nyoni bumped into him. That was on the cards all game.
VAR cannot intervene on foul throws. Nor is there anything it can do on the penalty given the contact ref based the foul on actually occurred. I’m never going to get in the way of people calling Oliver a cunt, but he didn’t influence the result today.

Ref thought process: hmmm. Player gets shot away but Alison makes contact. Shit. Oliver could look at that and tell me I’ve got it wrong. Let’s give a preemptive pen.
Probably. I bet he was in Virgil’s ear on their first goal as well telling him he left the iron on at home making him momentarily think he had to run home to turn it off

Late challenges are always given in other areas of the pitch, usually with yellow cards to go along. They should be given in the box as well.
The issue is that it seems to happen only when it’s against Liverpool. City got the same penalty at Anfield last year.

No, they can’t, for general play throw ins.
But, if any offence has occurred in the build up play to a goal or penalty, then it is their duty to highlight it.

Right, but what foul? And if you say the foul throw…
If it came from a free kick but the ball was rolling when the free kick was taken, you’d think VAR would intervene. Same thing really.
No-one seems to have noticed it and it may well have been a foul throw but when was the last time you saw one given? It seems to be largely ignored now…I saw Alisson take one late on that looked very dodgy.
Bravo.
The referee or linesman would have to flag it.
They either didn’t see it, or chose to ignore it.

The most shocking thing is the lack of self-awareness shining through here. He thinks it’s perfectly ok to come out in the public with such a story.
He’s not one of the ‘old school’ btw, as the article claims. He retired in 2022, which is basically yesterday. He was one of the gang, and along his pals Anthony Taylor ,Michael Oliver and others, contributed massively to raise justified suspicion against the PL refs.
