The Referees or The Twelfth Man

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given the English refereeing standards!

I remember the Fulham game when he was referred to VAR on a perfectly decent tackle by Fabinho, he took one look and walked off dismissing the VAR.

What a shame PGMOL, FA, PL can’t fine or ban him

Jose Mourinho parking the bus with an English refereeing team. Well over 140 minutes of playing time including 11 minutes at the end of extra time to account for at least some of the time wasting.

Thank God I missed this crap.

Top comment on the BBC report: “A terribly long final. It started in May and ended in June.”

Should this be a penalty to Roma??

Heard that this was some form of record broken!

No. The arm is by his side and the only movement comes from him trying to get it even further out of the way, and from after the ball has hit it.

Uefa is stricter on handball though so “you’ve seen those given, Jeff.”

But UEFA can!

He’s a lucky boy for sure, if you froze the point the ball strikes the arm and showed it to 10 refs in VAR, 5…maybe 6 of them would give a pen.

I’ll leave it at that.

Apparently Taylor did acknowledged that the ball grazed that arm but at a position slightly above the elbow. What does the rule book say?

Does not matter, United would have had a penalty …

Having said that there where 22 assholes on the pitch and plenty of them the bench

Where on the arm it strikes is relevant but it is much closer tot he shoulder than the elbow before it becomes excused so I don’t think that is what that gesture is pointing to. I think he’s saying the arm was by the player’s side

Is he not pointing to the wrong arm in that picture

Nah. He was pulling his arm out of the way. Extremely harsh. Good decision.

You could actually argue his arm was closer to his body at the point Matic crosses the ball than it was when the ball struck his arm.

Was going to argue!!
But in truth, I don’t care!!

No he is indicating that his arm was by his side

Would have been harsh but check the one that knocked out England U20s that’s appalling bad.

I have a feeling that had it been Trent whipping that cross in, I’d have been absolutely furious not to get a penalty.

However from position of not giving a shit about Roma or Sevilla, I could understand if it was given. And I could understand if it wasn’t. It right on the line of subjectivity. You can make an argument either way.
