Yeah, you can create any narrative you want. Sam loves getting one over on us and West Brom have nothing to lose. Alternatively, West Brom have put everything into the last couple of months and played well and still come up short, several weeks before the end of the season. There is massive potential for a let down now, and so as you said, if we start the game in remotely the right way they’re as likely to pack up than fight back.
If we win 2 of of last 3 games, and draw the third. We either need Chelsea to get 3 points or less, or Leicester to get 2 points or less from last 2 games.
If we lose 1 game but win 2. We need Chelsea to drop points in both games. Or Leicester to lose both games.
The most recent memory for me is blowing a 2 goal lead to draw 2-2 to an already relegated West Brom with Darren Moore as caretaker manager, then The Boss complaining about a dry pitch afterwards.
Someone also made the point that ‘Arry will be extra hungry on the last day of the season for his beloved Golden Boot. So I know that reaching a bit, but could be extra motivation for Tottenham.
I think it was a valid point. At least two of these games are against sides we have struggled against because they like to play the sort of game we have difficulty breaking down.
No doubt we’re favourites, but they’re unlikely to be easy games.
Besides the manager issues - Dyche hates Klopp, so he will want a win. Allardyce thinks he should have his pick of big sides and hates dem foreigners like Klopp nicking his job, so he will want a win. Hodgson is a bitter old man, even if to some he seems kindly and avuncular. He will want to sign off with a win. So, lots of manager subplots in the last three games.
Now to the players. On their holibobs already? Maybe. But there’s also a sense in which lower teams want to show what they can do against the big boys.
All that is to say, we have to turn up and show the sort of endeavor we did against Man Utd. If we think they will roll over for us we might come unstuck.
Burnley looked so poor as they tried to open up and play football and were roundly punished by Leeds. Chances are they revert to type when they play us - park the bus and hope for some set pieces.
However, before we even get to that we have to get past West Brom who may well park the bus and hope for some set pieces.
