We are coming for you Leicester, Chelsea. We are going to trample on your balls.

They would just have given up now. Imagine the horror when you don’t want Liverpool to score and that happens!

Deflating, to say the least

Oh yeah, Sean the cunt Dyche, you are up next. Pull down your pants and we will make it easy for you. :rage:

I still can’t decide whether I want a win, loss or a draw for the Chelsea vs Leicester game and if not a draw, then who to win. A Leicester win makes it a straight shoot out between Chelsea and us - we’d like be on similar GD and it just be who scores more… Both Leicester and Chelsea have losable games… but then again how many time can we go tot he well!

I’d take a draw, I prefer Leicester to take the CL spots along with us but then it puts so much pressure on Chelsea to get a result against Villa with the CL in mind.

Same goes for Leicester with a draw, a draw would also mean we could be in the driving seat come the last day of the season. A loss for Chelsea could also mean that.

As I’ve said though let’s see what happens, with Salah scoring again today it keeps Kane keen on his golden boot

Leicester win is for me is by far the best option. That means we need 4 points from last 2 games.

Normal circumstances you would say Spurs are a more difficult team to beat than Villa. But they alway choke right at the end. Add to that for Leicester at home, with fans last day of season and most important game. I would fancy them.

For Chelsea they are away. Even is they lose to Villa, their players will have one eye on the CL final. They will believe they can qualify that route. Most of all they will be wanting to avoid injury. That’s their big game.

Step 1. Liverpool win against Burnley.

2a. If Leicester beat Chelsea…

3. Leicester 69
4. Liverpool 66
5. Chelsea 64
  • Liverpool are guaranteed to qualify with a win on the final day.
  • Liverpool are likely to qualify with a draw on the final day.
see how

Chelsea would go into the day on no better than +21 GD (tiebreaker 1); Liverpool would go into the day on no worse than +22 GD; Liverpool are likely to preserve their lead in Goals For (tiebreaker 2).

  • Liverpool are able to qualify with a loss on the final day if Chelsea fail to win.

2b. If Chelsea and Leicester draw…

3. Leicester 67
4. Liverpool 66
5. Chelsea 65
  • Liverpool are guaranteed to qualify with a win on the final day.
  • Liverpool are able to qualify with a draw on the final day if Chelsea fail to win or if Leicester lose.
  • Liverpool are able to qualify with a loss on the final day if Chelsea fail to win.

2c. If Chelsea beat Leicester…

3. Chelsea 67
4. Liverpool 66 (better GD)
5. Leicester 66
  • Liverpool are likely to qualify with a win on the final day.
see how

In this scenario, Liverpool are guaranteed to go into the final day with a minimum +2 GD advantage over Leicester.

  • Liverpool are able to qualify with a draw on the final day if Leicester fail to win or if Chelsea lose.

  • Liverpool are able to qualify with a loss on the final day if Leicester lose.

Step 3. ???
Step 4. Profit!

The best thing for Liverpool are the iterations where we can guarantee qualification with a win. A Leicester win does that AND also means that a draw is almost certain to be good enough.

Like @mattyhurst , I am leaning towards the draw as it theoretically keeps the two of them in the fight.

I dont see Chelsea dropping points against Villa, and they will probably hammer them. Given our own problems scoring goals, I dont want to risk goal difference deciding the places in that situation.

Given Kabak and Jota are now out for the season, if we do finish top four, that will be a hell of an achievement this season…

So has Kabak been fully ruled out now?

What’s up with Milner, he would be useful in these final two games.

That’s what is being said in the injury thread.

I think Milner may be back for Wednesday but until anything official is said, we can never be sure particularly as Klopp is often careful with what is said about injuries.

Last 5 and last 10 games - we’re leading both form tables now.

Great way to end this season and going into next.

Was thinking so much about the Leicester - Chelsea game.

Now I just think fuck it - we have to take it as it comes.

Hopefully we beat Burnley which won’t be easy.

Tuchel will have to change his approach and attacking in both games and they aren’t particularly good at playing on front foot.

I still want to have LC within distance due to the difficulty of their last game, so:

  • A draw between CL and LC, and a win for us puts us in 4th with goal difference not an issue.
  • A Ch win and a win for us puts us in 4th, but only on goal difference.
  • A LC win and a win for us put us in 4th, however LC will only need a draw in the last game. I want more pressure on them, I want them to know that they need a win.

  • Liverpool are able to qualify with a draw on the final day if LC lose.

This is why I want the LC/C draw, 4 permutations to make top 4.
