And it seems Everton is considering him as well since Dyche is hanging by a thread there. He could be gone soon.
What a shit show there - heâs still in charge, taking training today, but all news outlets are reporting that Potter is imminent.
Assume Lopetegui knows is time is up and is waiting for his payday rather than walking away.
You can say that again.
Confirmation of that. Interestingly, West Ham only wanted Potter till the end of the season but he insisted on a longer deal. Small club mentality.
Potter shows up for training and he is still there.
Anyhow owners are Tories so I hope he fleeces the fuckers
I have been listened to a couple of interviews with Potter recently. That is one David Brent motherfucker. His results werent actually as bad at Chelsea as people remember them to be but I can see why they didnt think it was going in the right direction.
I was listening to a West Ham fan a month or two ago and he said that the owners would only sack Lepetegui if they had a permanent appointment ready as they donât do care taker managers.
I think they have probably struggled to get a deal done with the guy they wanted,.
Its an odd approach - and I guess it will have some merits.
What it does do is undermine him massively with players. If players know the managers time is up, they might (unconsciously or consciously) stop training/working as hard, as they donât want injuries just as a new manager is due to come in. Want to make sure they catch the eye. Those not in the startling XI particularly might be prone to that.
In terms of struggling to get the deal done - West Ham would be able to create a scenario of take it or leave it by sacking the gaffer and going interim. This puts pressure or prospective managers to make decisions to join a club, rather than dilly dallying knowing that thereâs someone keeping the seat warm and they are the No.1 choice.
All if buts and maybes ofcourse.
Thatâs Lopetegui gone - maybe someone at Westham saw my earlier post and thought I was right
Surely someone could have been appointed as a caretaker before they sacked him so not to have that embarrassing scene.
Anyhow good we played them away. They might improve.
West Ham and similar clubs are becoming a bit boring to me lately.
Going in circles from pragmatic to more idealistic choices, trying to present that they have a âWest Ham wayâ (what the hell is that even) or whatever.
Itâs not only West Ham, but when I used to hear the likes of Neville say stupidities like âUnited need to have wingers out wide, power and pace, transitionsâ, itâs incredible really. Like fans and public cannot get used to other things, especially if theyâre successful.
Whether you play with wingers out wide in a 4-4-2 or inside forwards in a 4-3-3, that is certainly not something so deeply in ingrained in a clubâs DNA or something. Someone would say unless youâre Barca, a club that had incredible football identity. But even they changed in the past and will change. Like it goes everywhere.
I have nothing against general ambition (I admire it), trying to always be better, create new ways⌠but weâve seen so many examples where it happens in a wild way.
There has to be also a % of realism, realizing the league you have and where you belong more or less, how many bigger clubs are struggling to be in position where you see yourself, the league simply NOT having enough space for all of the clubs to be completely satisfied with their positions. Itâs called high competition.
They won a European trophy not long ago, had a blast there, what else do they want. A domestic cup? Youâre not the only ones, bigger clubs are also struggling to win them. They donât like the new stadium? Fight it then, but thatâs a different battle. They have Paqueta and think they should immediately play better without having balance problems? Itâs not a computer game.
Of course, their position so far this season isnât good enough and thatâs why they changed, but Iâm just taking about that continuous pre-someone like Lopetegui, post-someone like Lopetegui, etc. Letâs see if Potter can find a better balance.
They could do, but I think its a principle of the owners not to have care taker managers.
Well they are spunkbuckets.

Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Menâs First Team Manager with immediate effect.
Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.
The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course.
Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.
The statement doesnt even give thanks to Dyche and his staff.
Bitter or what.
BITTER, in caps.
Can see them finally getting relegated this season. They show all signs of mismanagement, at all levels.
I said about Slot being a lucky general, this may indeed work in our favour if they attempt to switch systems.
Moyes has a story that John Lyall, who managed West Ham for about 30 years, complained to Fergie about never figuring out what the âfamedâ West Ham Way is
Pie. Mash. Jellied eels. Bubbles.
Everton didnt even win this?
