He tried to joke that all asians look the same by saying he didnt know if a Spurs shirt was worn by Son or just some other asian guy because you couldnt tell the difference.
Moron.

Just to be clear, the Spurs shirts looking the same is not the slur.
It’s given that the footballers aren’t the sharpest tools in the box. But some of them take moronic to a whole new level.
Well that is quite a lot different from what I thought he said. Son’s cousin could very well look like him. Unless the translation is bad.
Err unless he knows his family well then you are being a bit silly.
“They all look the same” I think I’ve heard that enough in certain contexts to pretty much know what he meant.
It is borderline trolling to argue otherwise
Not trolling at all, or being silly, just playing devils advocate.
I thought he said “all asians look the same”. I had not at that stage seen the entire quote. At this stage it’s bad.
“It could be his cousin because all asians look the same”. - racist.
“It could be his cousin because they look the same”, is a bit different. It’s not unusual for family member or friends to intermingle when they are out on the town. I have not idea if they have met, or if that’s the case. If not, then yeah, it’s worse.
Edit: the all does look bad, without the all it looks totally innocent.
“It could be his cousin because they look the same”, is a bit different.

Why on earth he is even talking about Son’s cousin is surely the giveaway here? It was unnecessary?
Not something that calls for a devil’s advocate.
He’s already apologized to Son which admits his guilt.
I don’t know. Why was Ancelotti talking about Jobe, saying (joking) they got the wrong Bellingham. As brothers they do actually look alike physically in many ways, not just skin colour. Thankfully he said it in a way that could not be construed as racist, unless you perform mental gymnastics.
Just to be clear, it is racist when he inserts the “all” in the quote (as I mentioned in my edit). I also had no idea he apologized.
Could he mean the shirt with the same name on the back, other than the number the shirts look the same
It sounds racist to me. Pretty clear. He has apologized, so hopefully it will be on the lighter side of the punishment.
Part of the issue is the range of norms in different countries. By the standards of his homeland, Bentancur was being a bit salty, and it might be dismissed as bantz innit. But by the standards of the country where the league is, it is offensive and should have been left behind more than a generation ago.
Hopefully they have a good friendship and hopefully the apology will bring them together. And if so, hopefully the authorities don’t overreact and give him the harshest punishment.
Or make him captain.
Didn’t Maureen always win some title/trophy in every club he has managed? …until he didn’t.
Probably not the wisest thing to say.
After all
Yokohama
Brisbane
Celtic
Is kind of Hodgson levels, in fact if you don’t win something as Celtic manager you probably should give the idea of footie management up.
I like the fella, but he is starting to come across as a man under a bit of pressure. I’m torn between whether he is sticking up for himself, or starting to appear a bit arrogant.
His easy going nature is getting bristly.
It’s not, but I like it. He might be able to protect his job better by lowering expectations, but I think doing that would also be the most Spursy thing in the world and almost ensure that he ultimately fails. This way he is at least challenging Spurs to break themselves of their Spursiness.
When you’re as well paid as these guys are I really respect the idea of taking a big swing to try to win rather than playing it safe to maximize the length of time you have in the job and squeezing out another 2 or 3 years.
