The Spursy Thread

Well, I didn’t mean to defend his comment, if that’s how it came out…but I think it’s less serious than what Suarez did/said.

Why?
I do think it is a big difference how the comment is being delivered, in this case as a joke.

No, just no. The worst you could say about Suarez is that he was trying to wind Evra up, but as evidenced by Cavani years later, it quite clearly is a cultural thing in Uruguay at least. Doesn’t make it right, but it’s not even the same as this.

What you’re saying is that racism is okay if you wrap it up as a joke. It’s like, why can’t n*****s just take a joke? I’m just joking right? Just dropping the n-word casually because it’s a joke. Why can’t the French national team just take a joke? It was juuust a joke. All snowflakes.

By the way, it’s also a disgrace that Fernandez seems to have escaped without any punishment.

well, I’m not.
I saying there is something in between OK and Not OK.

So, I think 7 games are too many, in comparison to Suarez and definitely to Fernandes (who clearly should have been punished)

Not sure but I think none?

And as someone who’s been on the receiving end of both types of racism you’re talking about here, both overt, intended to offend, and just a casual, joking racism, I can tell you.

I think they aren’t that different from each other in outcome.

As I have said before, if someone throws a racist insult at me it says far more about them.

Sorry to hear that.

Yeah, the Tottenham Hotspur bit made it too messy.

Needs to be even more minimalistic than it is.

:joy:

They’ve taken away the only title they had…

On the racism discussion - I think it was a mistake, but the punishment is fine (going by others), and I think ultimately it’s a bad look for Spurs to appeal the severity - on one hand they accept the guilt, but then try to wash away what’s happened through seeking to reduce the punishment.

Hope they’re told to fuck right off, and if anything, the ban increased by a game for their stupidity.

Really is no point appealing that.

Lose at home to Ipswich, beat Citeh at the Emptihad.

At what point is this just trolling your own fans?

You really can’t guess what you’ll get to be honest.

It’s about taking your chances, we all know, those that have played footy, if you keep missing chances it can easily come back and haunt you, they get one chance score.

Just the nature of the game you can be a dominant team and lose.

It’s a funny old game as a certain Jimmy Hill once said

This is Ange doing his best to ensure that his reputation stays clean when he does get the sack.

Objectively, I really think they should stick with him. Spurs was a step up for him, and he may hit a ceiling. But Spurs has had a problematic club culture for a long time, and it got worse when Pochettino left. It isn’t going to be an easy fix.

As an LFC fan, I wish him the best in his next position…

I am in agreement with you, sometimes opposition fans and pundits expect too much of their team and realistic aspirations
