Exactly, they shouldn’t be rewarded with getting your team fit and clear from injuries, while at the same time making it more difficult for other teams due to condensed scheduling. Covid has been around just over 2 years and there are many protocols in place to limit the spread within your team, unless you have irresponsible twats that break the rules in order to have parties etc.
The outbreaks we have had (and some other teams) were identified and isolated incredibly quickly.
It’s the Covid card…for sympathy, for extending rules of when games have to be played…their medical systems for checking, isolating and need looking into.
Rather hoping that Rennes demand it is played middle of next week, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. The delay should not be in order to let Spurs come back up to strength, but to ensure there are no more cases.
They might be required to field two different teams in the space of 24 hours, as we had to during the FIFA Club World Cup! One team in the Conference League and another in Carabao Cup. Surely that is the only plausible solution?
And the postponement of the match is slightly unfair to Vitesse, who play their match tommorrow. So Spurs will know before the match exactly what result they need in order to progress (which Vitesse cannot know).
I hope they get banned from all European competitions if they forfeit. They must be made to play sometime this month. I am hoping the PL won’t bend over for them.
