Lets not make it a pissing contest, lets make it a place where we can learn new words. Lets not use AI to sully creativity. By all means use dictionaries, for spelling and context.
First word, and I love this.

The quality of seeming true or believable. The cornerstone of great writing.
Petrichor
The earthy scent that fills the air after rain on dry ground, especially rock or soil. Great word, which I first heard only recently, especially for that post rain smell during a warm summer evening.
Beautiful word.
It’s obviously rarely used, but it almost feels correct, descriptive.

Antwacky - something that is old, outdated or cumbersome.
Jigger - the narrow alleyway between two rows of terrace houses.

I’d be interested to see an old copy of “Lern Yerself Scouse”. It’s 60 years old now, so it would be interesting to see how many of the phrases ar still in use.
Scouse has changed a lot I think. The accent has become much harsher and thicker. I hear kids and younger adults talking on Merseyrail and I can barely understand them. Then there is the vocabulary. An awful lot of f…ing…

That word has lost its shock value as I remember it as a youngster… I think it represents a lack of articulacy (good word?) when you have to resort to its use.

Forgive me for contributing a reading about the history of a letter and not of a word. Though, words there will be; as a word without letters is akin to football without players.
Me mum has always used it , and I had always thought of it as two separate words , i.e. Aunt Twacky.

My neck of the woods , and something I never knew originated here. I actually thought it was used everywhere , but it makes sense now because it’s the only one of those phrases that my wife and daughter are yet to adopt , presumably because they think it’s something I’ve just made up. lol
There is actually a serious point in there. Swearing actually performs a psychological function as stress management. There is research that shows swearing can increase pain threshold, ability to cope with stress, reduce anxiety etc.
It’s like antibiotics. Use it too much, and it loses its potency.

My uncle used it and I always got the image of a pantomime dame dressed up to the nines, using a mangle. I suppose it sounds like it should be Widow Twankey’s old maid sister.

This is a good one and is useful to use as a contrast to Truthiness. This was a word invented by a US comedian to explain a satirical take on the news where something is talked about with a sense of verisimilitude to make it feel true, but is in fact not. The point being made was people increasing want, and are being delivered, truthiness (“yeah ok, so that story about Clinton might not be technically true, but you know its the sort of crooked thing that bitch would do”) not truth.
