The thread for those Vile Cheats Manchester City. Who cheated

i am only 5 ft 9 .. 11 stone, so i am not sure i am big enough to take it .. but i am 100^ ugly enough! so hopefully that will get me through. :joy:

It’s also possible that they are paying Sky for favourable coverage. (e.g. advertising for Etihad Airlines or whatever. I’m reminded of the scandal that caused Peter Oborne to leave the Telegraph.)

I’m just waiting for Donald to try and influence the appeal hearing

not like him to not use America’s influence and make some money for himself.

The media is saturated with the man city guilty / punishment narrative. So the correct move is to offer a different opinion/viewpoint .. to bring in those viewers that are fed up of hearing the same questions and answers. It is just how media works. They will revert back to the other narrative when other media use this narrative.

“Narrative”?

That’s an odd way to spell “judgment”.

Mate, the normal process has run its course. Effectively, this is the point where the jury have returned a guilty murder verdict and the very next step is sentencing. Just like a murderer might be able to appeal (after being sent to prison) the verdict and get off on a technicality, this is probably the only hope for Cheaty at this point as they can’t introduce new evidence. But once the independent commission come up with an agreed punishment, this can occur instantaneously and no-one needs to wait for City’s continual appeals.

Would you wait for a murderer to exhaust all legal courses of action before labelling them a murderer?

But it’s not a narrative is it?
There was an extensive investigation, for which they refused to cooperate, a 12 week hearing, during which time facts and proof was established and several of their witnesses were deemed to be not credible.

My understanding is that this is the civil equivalent of a crown court case, where the trial has taken place, all of the prosecution and defence (or lack of) evidence presented, then the jury have given their verdict, which was guilty of 114 of the 115 charges.
No narrative there at all, just hard facts.
There is obviously a right of appeal, but at this present time they have been found guilty.
Nothing to do with narratives

regarding the Man City punishment,

should it include them been compliant with FFP rules,

around ÂŁ900 million (that we know off) has gone into the club fraudulently,

maybe they should be told they’ve got 5 years to balance out this £900M,
through selling, and genuine income, it would also make it difficult for them to purchase new players

It is kind of a narrative because the media throw in the caveat about the appeal process and that this could drag on for years. They are reticent to commit. They discuss punishment but they don’t commit to a certain viewpoint on what that should be in their opinion. Maybe I’ve used the wrong term but my brain won’t find the exact word. I am not intended to be inflammatory. apologies.

Media tends to work by not biting the hand that feeds it.

It will be interesting whether the appeal verdict will actually finish before the sentence is handed out. I imagine there will be an incredibly long wait for the actual sentence given the enormity of what Cheaty are guilty of. Plenty of tv hosts suggesting the punishment is ‘finger in the air’ kind of guessing but I am sure they will weight the decision against punishment handed to other clubs, the severity ie. 18 years of sham contracts (my new favourite word) and the level that the City owners went to obscure their dealings.

I think I heard the appeals process will be complete within 12 weeks? Maybe the punishment decision will take that long? Maybe the IC and PL wait to apply it at the end of the season for legal reasons?

of course. If the viewing figures or interaction drops then you have to find or create new content to bring viewers back in. I am have noticed on youtube/twitch their is a rise in the content creators of scum channels etc now creating content siding with city or offering a different narrative/viewpoint… not because they believe it in my opinion.. but because it makes money. rage watching or whatever it is called… people interacting and sharing it because they don’t agree.

I expect the tribunal to come to a decision on sanctions during the appeal process. Such that should the appeal panel uphold the tribunal’s judgment then sanctions would be announced, if not concurrently, then very shortly thereafter.

IF they did it win at appeal, could we ever see a case of the other clubs , or even the premier league, fighting the appeal decision? I know there is talk of city taking it to the high court and dragging it on, but what do you think the process would be in the event of an appeal victory ( or some changes to some judgments)

IF it wasnt a categorically overturn or was a technicality.

What is the exact deadline for the appeal? 2359h at 2nd Oct 2026?

The angle they are using for the appeal is weird and possibly also infringes upon associated party transactions…

In theory any party could challenge the final determination but on limited grounds. From the PL perspective I don’t think they would, but I don’t want to spend much time contemplating that scenario.

Also, regardless of the decision, the PL clubs could still vote for expulsion if enough of them had had enough of City’s bullshit.

cheers fore reply. I don’t want this to drag on and on. Sooner we get to the end of it one way or the other , we can just get on with football <3

Amazed that people are surprised that commercial thinking is coming into the discourse around potential punishments. Said last week that it’d be a consideration in the minds of the PL and people piled in saying it couldn’t be a factor.

The PL is about making money. Has been for a long time. Expelling Man City from the league, like it or not, detracts from the value of the product. We might not give a shit about that but the PL sure as shit will.

I give it to the end of the weekend before the usual suspects start to seed in the narrative around the “damage to the product” and the “poor optics” for the PL if a punishment is handed down that is essentially a death sentence for the club.

This is the football world we live in. All that matters is the product and the profit. They’ll want a punishment that warrants the effort that’s gone into it, acts as a clear deterrent but enables City to be back in the PL before too long, that’s if indeed they do get relegated one way or another.

the best part for me is that City’s accomplishments have been proven to have no value at all. Empty accolades built by a cheating team. The club and their fanbase are never going to live this down. Even if they whine , appeal and attempt to delay this in court, They are going to have an asterisk next to their accomplishments throughout.

No other sponsor would touch them. Etihad and Abu Dhabi will eventually get wind of the negative publicity and start scaling back from the team. This kind of negative publicity just doesn’t go away.
