They are sportswashers. Everything they’ve done at City and in the wider community has been an attempt to paint themselves in a different light to the fucking scum they actually are.
Build a hugely successful football team, spend billions in the local community. All has the same effect.
That’s why what they’ve done on a football level and in the community shouldn’t be looked at differently, as if one mitigates against the other.
People should go and have a look on Bluemoon. It’s those older generation fans who are the most vitriolic where our club is concerned. Blokes in their 60s and 70s banging on about us being feral scum, murderers, bin-dippers and all the other shite.
Fuck them all, I hope they don’t exist in 12 months time.
You can’t use the Everton or Forest punishment as any sort of barometer to what City might get its a pointless exercise. Everton and Forest both had slight overspends and complied with investigations. City wilfully cooked there books to inflate income to the excess of 900m quid abd hampered the investigation at every opportunity.
So this is like comparing a Tesco shop lifter with Robert Maxwell.
It needs to stop as a comparison.
With all due respect. Considering your difficulties in posting. Which you acknowledge, and which frustrates you.
But this statement makes zero sense. They have been found guilty on 114 charges. For the good of the game, and the good of ethics and morals in society, they simply cannot clear their name.
If they clear their name from this position, it means that corruption outweighs morals and the game is further tainted. If they clear their name, the rest of us have to walk away and choose a different passion, because the game we love will be finished.
The good of the game is best served by justice. And in this instance, justice requires very serious sanctions.
You spoke of fans in earlier posts, not just City fans, but supporters of clubs in general. The world knows they are guilty, so any deviation will be repugnant for supporters in general. It will mean that cheating wins. That cannot happen.
I have to say, for all the hand-wringing about what happens to the old-school fans if the club goes down, that perspective dies a death the moment you actually run into a City fan. They’re possibly the most unpleasant fanbase in the league, possibly the country.
I would agree whole heartedly with that if the risk of going to the wall was a result of falling on hard times a sponsor going tits up something of that ilk. But if they go for the systematic cheating they have so be it.
more or less you’ve taken what i said in the first paragraph and embellished upon it. Everything you’ve said is exactly why it would be a shitshow. One can hope another clears their name in any walk of life whilst still accepting that if they can’t then they will be suitably punished. It is a bit like handing the trophy to ac milan at jhalf time in 2005 or telling barcelona which dressing room they ve got for the final in 2019 after the first game. I don’t dispute the verdict but i don’t dispute a person right to appeal. How can i put it better, erm, I wish the only verdict we are getting told is the final unnequivical one. ( i can’t seem to spell that word!) I only disagree or dislike the process. i think thats what i am trying to say.
I can only imagine that @klopptinho hopes that City clear their name in the sense that he wishes for a world in which there was no wrongdoing.
Unfortunately, that wonderful place is a fantasy. Had there not been the financial doping, in breach of the rules (and in some respects, the law), City would at best be an Everton or Aston Villa.
No league titles, no superstar players, no longer term success, no domination.
That reality isn’t available to us. We must deal with what is.
If that isn’t the scenario you hope for and you do, in fact, want City’s behaviour to go without a guilty verdict or sanction, for them to be genuinely innocent, then that’s hardly a better scenario.
It would have meant that several of our sporting governing bodies have misinterpreted their own rules and wrongly pursued an innocent club for years and at huge expense. Either scenario leaves the league in an untenable position but only the latter would undermine the whole future of the competition.
But we are told the final unequivocal verdict. That they are guilty of 114 charges.
That’s the verdict.
Now, they may appeal, but not in a frivolous manner, only if their “new” evidence disproves their guilt on all charges.
If they were in any shape or form innocent, do you think the independent body would have delivered this verdict?
What grounds of appeal do you think they have? If it is new evidence, why was this not brought forward during the process, which has taken years. If it is an error of fact, then they could have already presented this. If it is procedural (which is what got them off the UEFA charges) they they are just entering into shysterism.
My general feeling is that they are simply stalling at this point so that they can apply political pressure.
Nobody takes this long to give a fully considered verdict and gets it wrong, particularly given the benefit of the fully developed legal arguments they will have heard from both sides.
Yep. The PL got to watch how City squirmed out of the UEFA punishments via CAS. They saw every attempt by City to slow down the process and aaw City employ the best lawyers to argue over anything possible.
The PL won’t have taken any chances with their verdicts, and its highly unlikely City will walk away from this without punishment.
These verdicts have to stick. It is a shitshow but the other way , as you point out , is also a shitshow. I don’t know why , honestly, but i am more concerned with the aftermth and other peoles well being than i am with what the punishment is. I do see that comes across weird. I have cognitive issues and nerve damage but if i didn’t i’d probably be seeking blood like a lot are, i won’t and don’t deny that !
Honestly, no idea what their grounds of appeal could be. No idea how they could get away unpunished. I do worry though what the outcome of that would be if they did have something and thr 114 verdict is set in stone with society. I don’t like the releasing of it and then the .. but wait.
I don’t know, but I do know that Premier League financial regulations sucks and that state money from KSA and UAE is very, very much something the league wants (as well as the UK itself).
And if you want that and you are already more than comfortable ignoring Human Rights and corruption issues, then I don’t see how City’s book fixing should come as a big surprise (obviously, UAE owners thought they could get away with it). All of this is stupid really, but it is Karma for the English Premier League for sure. The league itself certainly deserves to be marred by this scandal, and Manchester City again, deserves to pay for it with heavy sanctions.
Unfortunately some staff members may be affected but most of us have been let go from a job before, not because we did anything wrong but because the work wasn’t there/they closed down etc,in this case they cheated. Anyone city need to let go should be paid redundancy etc by city.
Do you mean in footballing terms or in the political aftermath?
The punishment really needs to fall primarily on the owners, because it needs to provide a deterrent to others. Maybe bar any of them from ever holding a position in a Premier League club (thus forcing them to sell up).
As far as the City fans are concerned, if they are real fans then they will simply get used to whatever position they find themselves in. I can recall Lineker talking about watching Leicester as a fan when they were relegated. He said that going down was awful, but after that the whole joy of being a fan returned: they were playing football, winning more, and the positive atmosphere returned.
If they ‘clear their name’ at this point it will only be through a technicality, or through diplomatic pressure. They are 100%, categorically guilty and hoping otherwise at this point is ridiculous. They have obviously cheated.
If they genuinely believed they were innocent they wouldn’t have…
- Obstructed the process at every step
- Threatened our Government
- Been found guilt of similar offences by UEFA
I understand where you are coming from. It would have been better if they hadn’t cheated, and this shitshow hadn’t happened. But we are so far past that now, I don’t know why you are bringing it up. It’s like holding onto the Titanic, snapped in half with its arse in the air, slowly disappearing under the Atlantic, and saying “I hope we don’t sink”.
Maybe if it had been 115 - 0 instead of just the three goals.
From what I understand, the appeal will be focusing on the technical aspects of the case like whether is it right for the IC to declare certain witnesses’ testimony as a lie or whether is it right for the IC to declare some evidence is fabricated just to pull the wool over the IC’s eyes.
I stand corrected on this.
