Yellowstone is ok. I get the initial attraction, but it grew tiresome for me very quickly. Itās far more soap opera than the legit prestige TV that it is often represented as being. It feels like someone saw one scene of GOT where Cersei was arguing with her dad and saidā¦ālets do this, but in cowboy hats.ā
I gave it 2 seasons and couldnt get back into it for anymore after that.
Yeah, I liked the initial Yellowstone season, but each season they come back, itāsā¦bigger and better problems!! Old school TV with no specific endpoint in mind, just milking the cash cow at this point, so writers just keep spinning bigger and more fantastical problems for characters to deal with. To the point where I watched one episode of season 5 and never went back to it.
Itās fun TV though, the first few seasons are great entertainment, some of the characters are fun to spend time with. I get why itās so popular.
Iām finally getting around to House of the Dragon and I think I quite like it. More of an old-school GoT story with backroom politicking about succession which is a pleasant pace after the rushed final seasons of GoT.
Comparing it to Rings of Power and I would say it is better than Rings of Power. Then again, the source material is better so it should be really.
Normally Iād wait until more was available to binge a bit, but this being the final season and it finally getting a lot of attention, this feels like one I should watch in real time. Going to try to catch up tonight or tomorrow.
Bill Hader is a treasure, but my lowdown favourite is Akhmal., the King of Suckball Mountain. His joy in the background of the scene last season when riding the open top bus and passing Kimmel was beautiful.
Gives me hope. Iāve been half way through the penultimate series for a long while now - and wasnāt sure if Iād get round to picking it back up. Maybe I will now.
Finished the series now. Thought it was excellent. Found myself pausing at times to read up on things going on out there.
Bit late to the show, but been getting through this the last couple of weeks, and so far itās been quiet enjoyable. One of the few series I have enjoyed right through.
Were you watching in American subs or something? I didnāt get any weird dubbing at all. I hate shit like that, and would too have stopped watching it had it been like that when I watched it - or maybe I just donāt have as keen an ear.
Iām not that into period dramaās but must admit, ive been enjoying Great Expectations on BBC1,its a 6 parter on episode 4 at the moment (i havent checked but they could all be out on BBCi player) ,its a typical Steven Knight (Taboo,Peaky Blinders writer) adaptation, with a dark and grimy slant on it.
