The TV Thread redux

That is brillant!

So I’ll give Squid Game a go after I have finish season 4 of ‘Dear White People’.

Watched episode 1 of Squad Game, it was pretty epic!

Say what you like about Netflix but it has done a great job of promoting non-English language shows across the world.

Finally caught up with The Expanse, lost track of it years ago when it disappeared from Netflix. Season 3 was exceptional, a bit of a downturn in the two following seasons but still I don’t think there is a better Sci Fi show out there at the moment. Assume they will be doing a film of some sort after the final season given there is so much source material that is untouched.

Started watching Lupin. Hope it stays decent till the end.

I watched the first two episodes of Foundation. We’ll see just how good the show is in terms of narrative and pacing but TV doesn’t get visually better than this. This should be watched in theatre, not on TV.

I really enjoyed it, they played with my vertigo which I found excellent.
These Korean shows I find difficult at the start as, in English, the characters are ‘strange’ often ‘extreme’ like hysterical but after a few episodes I get used to it and into it. (I have a similar problem with some american series where a central character just comes across as a complete pig yet they try to make him out as a ‘hero’ this is more difficult and I end up having to look deeper and still it’s not always enough).

Just finished Midnight Mass on Netflix from the people who did Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor.

If you’ve seen either of those two this is of the same standard but a very different feel to it. Much more Stephen King than Henry James.

For those involved in the religion thread, this touches on some of the discussion points involved in there and does so in a way that I felt doesn’t try and push any one viewpoint as the correct one.

I’d recommend all three shows if you haven’t seen them, or if you have and didn’t like the first two you probably won’t much like this.

It’s 7 episodes long.

Rahul who plays the Sheriff is a massive LFC fan and a great guy too.

Squid Game is going to be my next watch, looks like a cool concept.

Not the words I would use to describe it.

Just finished watching… GODLESS on Netflix for the second time.
As any modern western, it moves along in the slow lane but well worth a watch IMO

Me too. Binged the entire series on Saturday night. Wasn’t bad. Have also started watching Lupin and Umbrella squad, both very enjoyable.

Might give Squid Game a go this weekend as wife is a fan of Korean shows (and despite not being a fan of horror, she couldn’t stop watching Kingdom!)

Squid Game is not a horror. There are lots of people being killed but it’s not scary at all.

Is Umbrella Squad = Umbrella Academy or is it a different show?

Try The Son. It’s different in tone but in some ways similar to Deadwood in how it deals with the people who made themselves in the rules of the old west coming to terms with the era ending. Basically Pierce Brosnan trying to turn from a cattle man into an oil man.

Umbrella Academy. My memory is shocking at times

Klaus is my favourite character so far.

It didn’t look great to me, but my daughter wanted to watch it and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Agree Klaus is the best.

Which one is the chimpanzee, or am I thinking of another show?
