The TV Thread redux

Pleasantly surprised to see that Arcane is this popular. Never thought it would get mentioned on TAN.

It’s a really great show, the art is amazing and I’d say the directing is solid. I don’t think the show is rushed except for Mel’s storyline… which feels like a speedrun version of Arya’s storyline. All other characters completed their arc and I only have this sadness that it ended.

I had watched season 1 already after initially avoiding it due to it being based on a video game. Finally got around to it due to reviews.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Silo season two at the weekend, enjoying it so far.

I started Bad Sisters S2 a bit too early now I’ve binged all the available episodes and have to trickle the remaining 4 week by week as they come out. I wont put myself in that situation for Silo :joy:

As for Bad Sisters, the second season is a real disappointment.

 My wife has been on at me for the last 3 weeks to watch Silo season 2 because she loved the first season. Then when we got through episode 3 she told me off for now having to wait for the next episode

Iam really enjoying it, some of the acting is top notch. The barometer was set high with Season 1, but I think this is quality TV.

Just started Yellowjackets. Looks good so far (end of episode 1).

Not seen it, but the write up when it first came out made it sound like a modern remake of Alive

NO. Very different. There is the Alive premise of them being stranded after a plane crash, but it is then like Alive meets Lost meets Stephen King.

The first season was great, but I dont have Showtime and they dont have enough stuff worth me getting it just for this second season, especially when it was not reviewed very positively

Will there be an Arcane Season 3? We have news for League of Legends fans

Riot Games’ co-founder Marc Merrill weighs in on the chances of a third season of the Netflix hit, Arcane – but things aren’t looking too positive for fans as of now

Jinx

If you’ve been enjoying Riot Games’ Arcane show, you’re not alone – Season 2 of the Netflix hit has taken social media by storm as players catch up with Jinx and Vi.

The show, which is based on Riot’s League Of Legends, had previously been slated for two seasons. Still, with so much hype around it’s return, you may be wondering if the team has considered extending its run.

Responding to a report from Dexerto on the League of Legends Reddit, Merrill (who goes by the alias Tryndamere) confirmed “Arcane was always written to be two seasons.”

Referring to a joke from Riot’s ex CEO about five seasons, Merrill explained “The confusion is because internally there was a budget conversation about “approving 5 seasons” - which simply means we were setting aside a bunch of money for lots of development and is completely irrelevant to the Arcane creative. The creative and making something great is what the priority should always be for Riot and our teams.”

"We have also always envisioned telling more stories and continuing to expand the universe. That hasn’t ever changed - people just jump at rumours or misleading headlines and Riot didn’t correct them - but given those rumours gained momentum, happy to clarify

Arcane could open the doors to a number of spin-offs

“Just because that is our intent, doesn’t mean it’s easy or that we can pump these things out like a factory - just like making games that are worthy of players time / love is really hard, so too is telling great stories and making incredible shows / films (especially when we are building it from scratch for the first time).”

“That is always what Rioters are focused on (or should be focused on), no matter what 3rd party rumors say.”

Merrill also shot down rumours that Arcane’s budget could be a reason for not making any additional series.

“And since I’m here I’ll add - the “lol @ the cost” of Arcane arguments are silly from our perspective - as people have correctly pointed out the cost per minute of Arcane is about 1/3 to 1/4 of what Illumination / Pixar films cost.”

“The market for this (“high quality adult focused animation”) didn’t exist before Arcane so Hollywood has a hard time getting their head around why we would do this.”

Still, it’s not all bad news. As Merrill says, the team is looking to “tell more stores” in its world, with multiple spin-offs reportedly in development to help build a Riot cinematic universe of sorts.

Not sure I agree with this…

Silo has strayed pretty far from the books with both characters and story, count me officially worried. They have important characters in TV show that aren’t in books at all.

Tulsa King. ambling through it like Sly ambles through Tulsa. So far bloody wonderful. Driving test :joy:

I’ve been rewatching Midnight Mass while I wait for the remaining episodes of Bad Sisters to be released. God it is good. I love the description of it as the best Stephen King story he didnt write, but it’s really Zac Gilford and Hamish Linklater who elevate this.
